Hyundai Motor Group is set to revolutionize the in-car experience with the launch of its next-generation infotainment system PLEOS Connect, that according to ETNews, will debut in the next-gen Hyundai Elantra and Tucson complete changed model.

First-Ever Software-Defined Infotainment Platform from Hyundai Motor Group

PLEOS Connect’ marks Hyundai Motor Group’s first in-house developed infotainment software (SW), integrating seamlessly with an upgraded hardware (HW) layout — most notably, a large-screen center display. Designed to dramatically improve user experience (UX), the new system reflects a significant step toward the software-defined vehicle (SDV) era.

The system will first appear in the 8th-generation Hyundai Avante (project code CN8) in Q2 2026, followed by its rollout in the 5th-generation Tucson (NX5) during Q3 2026 in Korea. Hyundai and Kia will later expand the platform across their vehicle lineups.

Powered by Android Automotive OS and AI-Driven Features

Built on the Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS)PLEOS Connect offers a smartphone-like interface, providing drivers and passengers with a familiar, intuitive digital experience. The system supports multi-window capabilities, allowing users to operate multiple apps simultaneously—ideal for multitasking on the go.

At the heart of PLEOS Connect is Gleo AI, Hyundai’s large language model (LLM)-based artificial intelligence. This advanced AI enables the infotainment system to process complex commands, such as combining navigation requests with music playback, and to answer real-time queries related to weathertraffic, and vehicle operations in a natural conversational manner.

Tesla-Style Large Display with Minimalist Design

In line with modern EV trends, the new infotainment system features a tablet-like large center screen, enabling touch-based, intuitive control of vehicle functions. By minimizing physical buttons, Hyundai streamlines the interior for a more modern, digital-first feel.

To enhance driver safety, Hyundai will also include an additional display on top of the dashboard. This secondary screen will provide key driving data, such as vehicle speed and navigation prompts, within the driver’s line of sight.

Backed by Hyundai’s SDV R&D Leadership

The development of PLEOS Connect represents a significant milestone led by President Song Chang-hyun, who oversees Hyundai Motor Group’s SDV R&D division, including 42Dot and the Hyundai & Kia AVP (Autonomous Vehicle Platform) Headquarters. This is the first visible achievement from the group’s strategic pivot toward software-centric vehicle platforms.

Looking Ahead: 20 Million Vehicles by 2030

Hyundai Motor Group aims to equip more than 20 million vehicles with PLEOS Connect by 2030, signaling a massive shift toward digitally integrated, AI-powered vehicles.
