According Car and Driver, a second aperture is planned for the left side, bringing the total door count up to a more conventional five. The second driver’s side door is reportedly being installed for markets like the UK, where the driver sits on the wrong other side (a similar problem to what Mini found with the Clubman). Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced best-ever September sales of 35,609 units, a 18.4-percent increase over the same period last year and the company’s 13th straight monthly sales record. Kia’s design-led transformation has delivered unprecedented growth and market share gains, and with year-to-date sales up 37.1 percent, KMA bested its previous record annual sales total in less than nine months. In that case, the man behind the camera is David PL, The KCB reader from Spain, caught two units of the new C-segment hatch from the korean automaker at Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona) probably in their way to IDIADA Engineering and Homologation Center at Tarragona. The most important change for the 2012 Soul is the presentation of a new 1.6-liter petrol gasoline direct injection (GDi) engine and a revised version of the 1.6-liter CRDi, both hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox that replaces the previous five-speed unit. Apart from the gasoline model, the diesel version is optionally available with a new 6sp auto in place of the former 4sp transmission. (more…)
Finally we test drove the long waited from Kia, the All-New 2012 Kia Rio. The “sub-compact” from the Korean automaker renews it making a new generation, adopting the new image already seen in the last models from Kia, like the Sportage, Picanto and the Optima (that finally will come to Europe on the begginings of 2012).
