오래전, 기아는 2011 프랑크푸르트 모터쇼에서 놀라운 스포츠쿠페 콘셉트를 공개했다. 피터 슈라이어가 디자인한 GT는 기아 팬과 미디어 사이에서 큰 화제를 모았다. 드디어 모터그래프의 도움으로 기아 GT(코드명 CK)의 양산형 첫 사진(위장 상태)을 공개한다.
전 세계 다양한 도로와 기후 조건에서 제네시스 쿠페 뮬이 주행하는 사진이 여러 차례 포착된 끝에, 드디어 차량 자체의 모습을 볼 수 있게 됐다.
이번 모델은 기아의 첫 스포츠카 도전(기아 엘란 제외)이며, 많은 사람과 기아 매니아들이 이 디자인을 좋아할 것으로 보인다. 앞서 언급했듯이 이 모델은 콘셉트인 기아 GT와 많은 유사점을 지닌다. 예를 들어 아우디 A5, A7과 유사한 패스트백 디자인은 매우 매력적이며, GT 콘셉트의 C필러를 거의 그대로 유지한 4도어 옵션도 제공한다. 뒷좌석 승객의 헤드룸은 충분해 보이지만, 더 많은 사진이 나와야 확인할 수 있을 것이다.
눈에 띄는 네 가지 요소 중 하나는 배기구다. 기아는 쿼드 배기구를 적용해 스포티한 느낌을 살렸다. 또한 새로운 멀티 스포크 휠 디자인이 차량과 잘 어울린다. 외관의 또 다른 포인트는 펜더 하단의 크롬 벤트로, 운전석 도어까지 이어지며 긴 후드와도 조화를 이룬다.
안타깝게도 전면부는 아직 확인할 수 없지만, GT와 유사할 것으로 예상된다. 실내 역시 아직 알 수 없지만, 럭셔리와 스포츠 감각이 더해진 새로운 디자인이 기대된다.
이제 추측을 해보자. 엔진룸에는 큰 엔진을 수용할 공간이 충분해 보이며, 기아가 1.6 터보 엔진에 쿼드 배기구를 적용했을 가능성은 낮아 보인다. 더 큰 엔진, 아마도 2.0 터보 엔진이 탑재될 것으로 예상되며, 나아가 3.3 트윈 터보 엔진이 적용된다면 자동차 매니아들의 큰 관심을 끌 것이다.

The rear passengers suicide doors was what catching interest in the "concept" but they gone away in the production version...! Deception :(
To be honest, it's almost never a go for suicide doors. For sure it would add an awesome look to the car tho.

Yeah, I am also glad. It is astonishing how this production unit is very close to the prototype´s design. OK, we lost the suicidal doors (too risky for public acception) but the rest is almost everything there.
That's true, even tho it has camo you can still see the shape of the GT concept and I'm sure everyone will be please by that...but of course, we have to wait until the camo is off for better judgment. I feel this will be a winner for the car enthusiast even tho I heard Kia isn't looking forward on the sales figures.
