Rumors of a Soul Convertible have been circulating ever since the company introduced the Soul’ster concept at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. The speculation was recently reignited when Autocar quoted marketing executive Soon-Nam Lee who said the model would arrive in 2014.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Car & Driver talked to Kia’s head of global public relations, Michael Choo, who said “A convertible Soul was on our long-term product plan but has since been dropped.” He added, a hot hatch is “coming next year to Europe in the form of sporty versions of the cee’d and pro_cee’d models.”
The high-performance cee’d will reportedly feature a sport-tuned suspension and a turbocharged T-GDi 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with approximately 220-230 hp (164-172 kW / 223-233 PS).
