Before that Kia confirms the production of a RWD SportsCoupe Sedan by 2016, inspired by the “GT” concept the past week, today we received another report about that the South Korean automaker will be showing a new roadster concept at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2014.

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:1px;”]Like Hyundai, however, Kia is looking to add more breadth to its line-up and, among other things, is looking at everything from a luxury entry to something small and sporty.  The South Korean automaker is expected to reveal a new roadster at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in January that would apparently be its answer to the likes of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 and the anticipated open top version of the Scion FR-S.  Sources say will be revealed in Detroit should reach production later in the year.

In spite of the increase in the number of sporty models, Kia has no immediate plans to go motor racing. Soon-Nam Lee said that he’d like the company to go racing at some stage, but that he’d be leaving it to Hyundai for the time being with its entry into the World Rally Championship next year.
