Yesterday we wrote about the Hyundai Genesis Coupe discontinuing the 2.0 Turbo engine for the 2015MY, that picture also raises more questions such as where could this engine go to?
[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]First of all, as far as performance wise the Theta II 2.0 Turbo engine proved to be a good engine even with aftermarket parts. So possibly Hyundai might not use it for the Genesis Coupe but might use it for a different model.
What car should be the best fit for this engine? The answer is very easy Hyundai Veloster.
The Hyundai Veloster was made to get people attentions, with its unique design and been the only car in the market with 3 doors. the Veloster made a lot of commotion when it was first release. Later Hyundai announce the Veloster Turbo was going to be manufacture and with that more car enthusiast jump to own this car, even Global Rallycross driver Rhys Millen jumped into the Veloster Turbo for his rally program.
We know Kia is planning to jump into this new segment, trying to compete with the BRZ/FRS twins. Giving the 2.0 engine to the Veloster might be what this car was needing to actually be on par with those 2. Maybe Hyundai is keeping the 1.6 engine for those who desire a better fuel economy and jump into the 2.0 T-GDi for those who desire more power on the wheels. Also could the Veloster keep the R-spec for the 2.0 with this new model?
Again all of this is food for thoughts guys, we haven’t heard anything from Hyundai just yet but a person can always dream.
