If you take a look to the picture above taken in South Korean circuit whose name has not been revealed, Hyundai is working in a facelift for the European i40 D-segment car (this car is available in South Korea under “Premium Younique Lifestyle” tag) With a front and rear end under cammo, the prototype allow us to see a completely new front grille and an updated headlights.

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]The first generation i40 was launched on May 2011, at the Barcelona Motor Show. The i40 was designed and engineered at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany and was launched also in South Korea.

Depending on the market, the i40 is available with up to three petrol engines (1.6 GDi, 2.0 MPi and 2.0 GDi with 135, 166 and 178 hp) and two diesel CRDi engines (1.7 with 115 hp and 136 hp).

Maybe with this facelift Hyundai will try to add the small T-GDi family engines, with 3 and 4-cylinder. For example, the new Ford Mondeo will use a 1.0 three-cylinder delivering 125 hp when will be launched in Europe. The refreshed i40 is expected to include new features like Blind Spot Detection, Smart Cruise Control and revised diesel CRDi engines.
