The all-new Kia K4 sedan has made its global premiere at the 2014 Chengdu Motor Show in Sichuan, China. The new K4 will be manufactured and marketed exclusively in China and has been designed and developed specifically with Chinese consumers in mind.

Harmonizing straight lines and curves on the exterior, the Kia K4’s elegantly-styled body promises a high level of comfort and spaciousness. The 4.7-meter long K4 boasts a 2,770 mm wheelbase, one of the longest in the segment, while a relatively wide (1,815 mm) and high (1,465 mm) body ensures plenty of space for occupants in both the front and rear seats.

From launch, the K4 will be available with two naturally-aspirated, lightweight ‘Nu’ gasoline engines (1.8-and 2.0-liter) offering strong performance, good fuel economy and excellent noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics. The 1.8-liter engine generates 143 ps and 176 Nm of torque, while the larger 2.0-liter unit gives drivers up to 155 ps and 192 Nm. Both are paired with Kia’s six-speed automatic transmission offering fully automatic or sequential manual gear selection.

Later in the new K4’s lifecycle, the car will be available with Kia’s powerful 1.6-liter turbocharger T-GDI gasoline engine, generating 176 ps and 265 Nm, together with Kia’s first seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), ensuring higher performance and fun-to-drive handling characteristics.

The Kia K4 features a wide array of comfort and convenience features, including heated steering wheel, front and rear heated seats, rear air ventilation, smart key, a high-clarity TFT-LCD instrument cluster, and a telematics system designed to work with the latest smartphones.

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:15px;”]The K4 will offer occupants a high level of safety, with six air bags, as well as Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to further enhance active safety. The K4’s bodyshell structure is manufactured using 50 percent ultra-high tensile steel, giving the car a high level of passive safety and ensuring a C-NCAP five-star safety rating.

Created exclusively for China, the new K4 has been strategically designed and engineered specifically for motorists in China, embodying more than a decade of in-depth experience Kia has accumulated in China through its joint-venture, DYK (Dongfeng Yueda Kia). The K4 concept was first showcased at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show in April and won praise from both Chinese media and the public alike.

The new Kia K4 will establish fresh standards for the compact segment in China and its premium quality will contribute to Kia’s continuously-improving brand image and status across the nation. The introduction of the new K4 will widen choices for Chinese customers by further enriching Kia’s product line-up in the region.
