Kia Motors Corp. announced its plans to entry on the Mexican car market today. The first part of Kia’s presence in Mexico will start on July, and later, in 2016 the local market factory will start manufacturing cars.

Sorento, Sportage and Forte are the trio will be available in July. The Sorento will be available with a 2.4 engine delivering 185 hp and will be US-made. Fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the SUV will arrive in 4×2 variant, not confirmed 4×4.

The Sportage will come in an initial phase with a 2.0 engine delivering 151 hp, and will arrive from Zilina European plant. In the first moment Kia will offer 6-speed manual & automatic transmission combined 4×2.

Depending on the customers response, could be available with All-Wheel Drive in the near future.

The third model to be available in Mexico is the Forte Sedan. With a MPi 2.0 engine and delivering 158 hp. All cars will be available in Mexico will come with a standard safety equipment such as 6 airbags, ABS or Electronic Stability Program. The Forte will arrive directly from South Korea.

The South Korean automaker last year signed a deal to build its first Mexican factory, which will start production in the first half of 2016 in the state of Nuevo Leon. Also Kia Motors Mexico planned initially to produce the Forte compact and Rio subcompact at the plant.
