As we have advanced yesterday, the delay on the launch of the high-performance Sonata N-Line was caused by the adjustment of Hyundai’s product launch schedule, with Santa Fe & Tucson overtaking the Sonata sport variant. Now and thanks to AutoPost we have the debut date for the Santa Fe facelift, which is now set for reveal on June 8th.

What we know so far?

The Group’s electrified lineup, which comprised 24 models in 2019, will be expanded to 44 models by 2025, including 13 hybrids, six plug-in hybrids, 23 battery electric vehicles and two fuel-cell electric vehicles.

This year, the Group will further bolster the sales of electrified models, adding hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants to its best-selling SUV models, including Kia Sorento, Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Santa Fe.

Hyundai will introduce a facelift for the Santa Fe, that according to our industry sources, will be close to a full change like with the new Grandeur. In the case of Grandeur, the same platform was used exceptionally, but the wheelbase was also increased, and the design was also intensily changed despite normal facelift that are just comestic changes.

Santa Fe is a very important vehicle because it accounts for more than half of Hyundai SUV sales. Therefore, as the flagship SUV, it will be released with various powertrains such as internal combustion engine, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. The larger wheelbase than before could make the body size similar to a Palisade.

Adding a plug-in hybrid to the Santa Fe, along with a common hybrid, is a good news for prospective consumers. A hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor with a gamma 1.6 T-GDI gasoline engine will remain, while receiving an updated 2.2 diesel engine (the 2.0 won’t be available) and new gasoline engines such as 2.5 NA and 2.5 Turbo.

It is also equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that significantly reduces fuel consumption by applying a large-capacity battery, and the Santa Fe hybrid is a combination of gasoline engine and electric motor.
