We already have seen several spy shots of the 4th generation Kia Sedona, but I’m pretty sure you also remember the Carnival nameplate, that were used in markets like Europe and is still being used in South Korea and other overseas markets. Today Kia has revealed the first sketch of the latest iteraction of its mini van, that according to the automaker, will be released during Summer.

What we know so far?
Codenamed as “KA4” the new Carnival will suffer a big change in terms of design as it looks more boxy than the current one, with a “Soul” inspired front design. I’m pretty sure that this new Sedona could offer a more rugged look (maybe a X-Line variant) to conquer more customers that are looking for a SUV.
On the powertrain side, the old 3.3 V6 engines will be substituted by the new Theta III 2.5-liter Turbo engine and will also use the same Hybrid powertrain as new Sorento and facelifted Santa Fe, with the 1.6 Turbo GDi and an electric motor. Latest report from South Korea announces release of the US-spec at the New York AutoShow in April, with Korean-spec arriving in July.
The interior has some elements from the soon to be revealed new Sorento, as the steering wheel, and also shares with Sorento and K5 the design of the cluster and infotainment touchscreen. But it also shows its own style with air vents that go side-to-side.

The new Sedona will use the 3rd generation platform introduced on the new Sonata and K5. According to the source the front view is planted with a long horizontal LED headlamp like the Seltos, and daytime running lights extend to the inside of the grille. The giant tiger nose was raised like in the Mohave.
The key is side view. A sharp angle at the top of the pillar that it is very different from the current rounded model. Straight window line also points. This makes it feel as grand and a large SUV. Despite the back is covered by a thick camouflage and details can’t be seen, but it has a long horizontal tail lamp. Carnival’s unique two- column sliding door maintained.
Attached there are the very first interior spy pictures of the new Carnival (as its known in South Korea and several overseas markets) that also will come with new engines including a hybrid powertrain for the US-market and latest technology.
Press Release
Kia Motors Corporation has hinted at the design of the brand’s fourth-generation Carnival flagship minivan today. Released in Korean specification, the all-new Carnival – sold in many markets worldwide as the Kia Sedona – will appeal to progressive young families with its combination of innovation, flexibility, and style.
The new model builds on its predecessors’ heritage in the mid-sized MPV segment, following more than two million Carnival sales worldwide since the first generation launched in 1998. With a stronger, more stylish presence, futuristic new details and an SUV-inspired design, Kia designers have even dubbed the new model a ‘Grand Utility Vehicle’.

At the front, the Carnival’s confident new face seamlessly integrates high-tech headlamps with Kia’s iconic ‘tiger-nose’ grille. Kia’s designers call this ‘symphonic architecture’, with the design of the front bringing together a range of detailed, technical features which create a sense of harmony and structural energy.
From the side, a bold character line runs the length of the car, linking the front and rear lamps, with its glasshouse characterized by a new chrome fin which extends to surround the rear.
The new Kia Carnival is due on-sale in Korea in the third quarter of 2020, with global sales in many of Kia’s markets to follow thereafter. Kia will release new images and more details about the fourth-generation Carnival soon.
