A week ago Kia Motors America unveiled the US-spec of the new Optima, now known as the Kia K5 like in the rest of the world and apart all the promotion pics and videos, we have got the price list and trim specifications and now we also have new in the wild pictures of the new K5.

Everything we know about US-Spec Kia K5
Kia Motors has finally released new details on the all new Kia K5 and the information given to use is the information given to dealership employee to help them understand better the new models, just like the one we received for the Kia Telluride.
Like we mentioned before, the one piece of information missing from the Kia K5 presentation was the price, so lets break it down what each trim will have as standard or added as option plus the price.
We now all these trims can be chosen in 3 different options engine, transmission and drive system. Theses are 1.6T & 2.5T engine, 8-speed Automatic Transmission & 8-speed Wet Dual Clutch Transmission, and Front Wheel Drive & All Wheel Drive.
Update: The wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is only available on the 8” Touch Screen Display and not the 10.25 Touch Screen Display. Additionally, this is the first Kia car that comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Kia K5 LX
The starting price of the K5 is 23,490 and this will get you the 1.6T engine with 180 horsepower with 195 LB/FT of Torque at 1,650 RPM mated to the 8-speed automatic transmission. As for safety features you’ll get the FCA with Pedrestrian Detection, LKA, LFA and DAW. Your interior will include a 8” touch screen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and dual zone climate control. As for colors your exterior can be chosen in these options Glacier White Pearl (GWP), Ebony Black (EB), Everlasting Silver (ERG) and Passion Red Tint Coat (ADR) with black interior as the only option as well as cloth seats.
Kia K5 LXS
One trim higher is the LXS and this one starts at 24,490 for the Front Wheel Drive model but this trim is one of the two trims available with All-Wheel Drive and that model start at 25,660. Both FWD and AWD comes with the 1.6T engine and the 8 Automatic Transmission. Additional safety features are the BCA, RCCA and SEA. Besides the Push to Star button you also get the Remote start on the key fob, a feature I’m sure a lot will love. Additional colors for this trim are Crystal Beige (CRB) and Gravity Gray (KDG). For your interior the colors GWP, EB and CRB gets black and sand option, and the colors ERG, ADR and KDG gets black. All of them still has cloth as the only option.
Kia K5 GT-Line
Now we are jumping on higher trims. Price on the GT-Line start at 25,390 for the FWD model but this trim is the second AWD and this one starts at 28,071. The additional safety feature only for the premium package are the FCA Junction Turning, FCA – Cyclist Detection and SCC w/ S&G. On the exterior you get LED Fog Light and rear combination lamps, 18-inch Alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tires. The interior receives 10-way power adjustable driver seat, leather steering wheel and USB charging ports for the rear occupants, and exclusive for the premium is the wireless phone charger and Panoramic roof. Additional colors for the GT-Line are the Sapphire Blue (DU2) and Wolf Gray (C7S) and with black interior with the option cloth and leather but if you feel you want to be unique, the Wolf Gray color is also available with Red interior with Synthetic Leather trim.
Kia K5 EX
At the top trims comes the EX with starting cost of 27,990. A lot of features on the GT-Line premium package comes as standard on the EX such as Panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, synthetic leather trimmed seating. As for premium package you’ll get can the navigation with 10.25 display, Bose premium audio, climate control seats, heated steering wheel and Active Sound Design and some additional safety features.
Kia K5 GT
Now comes the sport model, the Kia K5 GT with the starting price of 30,490. This is the only model that comes with the 2.5T engine with 290 horsepower and 311 LB/FT of Torque at 1500 RPM mated with the 8-speed Wet Dual Clutch Transmission. At the outside you’ll find the quad-tip exhaust, Sport tuned suspension, 19-inc alloy wheels with Pireilli P-Zero tires and front and rear larger disc brakes with GT logo calipers. To go along with GT design at the interior we get a leather wrapped “GT” D-steering wheel with paddle shifters and exclusively the GT gets 2nd row vents and heated front seats.
The Kia K5 GT starting price is $2,600 less than the starting price of the Kia Stinger, hopefully with this gap will not take any sales from the Stinger.
