As you may know, Genesis skipped Hybrid’s and go directly to electric vehicles. Following their first-ever electric vehicle, the eG80, the Electrified GV70 and compact crossover will join the family. Now we have new pictures of the eGV70 taken in South Korea. The reveal is expected for November.
What we know so far?
The electric version of the Genesis GV70 SUV was seen testing close to the Hyundai Kia R&D Center in Naymang, South Korea. We already have seen the electric version of the bigger salon G80 named eG80 launched at AutoShangai, so we can expect the same slight changes as the larger sedan.
What we can see in this prototype of Electrified GV70 is something similar to what we have seen in the eG80, the large Crest Grille at the front is completely covered and is no longer an air intake.
When testing the regular G80 or GV70 gasoline or diesel powered models, the brand did not use a camouflage covering the grille as shown in the photo. The air intake of the bumper, which is slightly visible below the headlamp, is also shown to be blocked.
Don’t expect big changes inside of Electrified GV70
There might be some smaller changes to bumpers and of course no exhaust pipes. Like the eG80, the Genesis eGV70 could arrive as All-Wheel Drive only electric SUV. Looking at the eG80 specs, each motor generates 136 kW (182 hp) and 350 Nm (258 Lb.-Ft.) resulting in total power and total torque of 272 kW (365 hp) and 700 Nm (516 Lb.-Ft.). Speaking about the range, it could reach 500 km (around 300 miles in the EPA cycle).
The eGV70 should feature same 400V/800V high speed-charging system, so that can allow the vehicle to charge at a maximum of 350 kW. So we can expect the same charging ratios as the IONIQ 5, being capable to charge from 10 to 80% in 18-20 minutes.
Start of production of the Genesis eGV70 will begin in December this year, so we can expect release of first information and official pictures by November.
