Genesis has opened the order books in the UK for the new all-electric GV60, its first dedicated electric platform-based vehicle, arriving later this year. Pricing for the UK will start from £47,005.

Pre-orders for GV60 are now available by clicking here. Customers are able to explore the new GV60, select their preferred option (either Premium, Sport or Sport Plus) and secure their vehicle by placing a fully refundable £1,000 deposit.

A dedicated Genesis Personal Assistant will then be on hand once on sale to go through the final stages of configuration and then through to purchase.

GV60 is the brand’s first electric car available in the UK and is based on the dedicated E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) fully electric platform, marking Genesis’s first step on the road towards electrification. By 2025, all new models from Genesis will be electric and it is the brand’s ambition to reach net carbon zero by 2035.

Three options of the GV60 will be available at launch in the UK:

·        Premium, priced from £47,005 (168kW rear-wheel drive single motor)

·        Sport, priced from £53,605 (160kW + 74kW all-wheel drive dual motor)

·        Sport Plus, priced from £65,405 (160Kw+160kW all-wheel drive dual motor)

Range will be up to 321 miles for the Premium, 292 miles for the Sport and 289 miles for the Sport Plus. Using a 350kW rapid-charge, GV60 can be charged from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.

Andrew Pilkington, Managing Director for Genesis Motor UK, commented “GV60 marks a new electrifying era for Genesis in the UK, and we are thrilled to add our first all-electric car to our line-up for customers with pre-orders now open.

“As part of our overall global push for electrification we want to redefine what premium-luxury means to a new generation of electric vehicle customers. GV60 embodies the very essence of the Genesis brand – providing next generation technology without compromising on luxury.”

As standard, GV60 will be packed with next-generation technology such as five-star advanced driver safety systems, a stunning dual 12.3” infotainment screen and wireless phone charging. At the heart of GV60’s interior design is the Crystal Sphere, a beautifully crafted electronic transmission control that intuitively informs the driver of driving modes.

Further information on packages, trim levels and features will be available at launch later this year.

I know car prices don’t follow strict currency conversion but that’s US$62,000 to 87,000 which is bonkers.

A loaded Audi Q4 E-Tron goes past 70,000 British pounds ($93K USD) and doesn’t have the performance of the GV60 Sport Plus. The Genesis is still a bargain relative to the luxury brands.

That’s good reference. The Q4 E-Tron tops out at $61,500 in the US so that gives me hope.

Yeah, I think that high price in the UK comes from the VAT.
