We recently shared latest pictures of IONIQ 6 and a possible N-Line variant. With production set to start in July, pre-production models started testing with final specification including headlights, taillights, bumper design and today our colleagues at GotchaCars released the latest rendering of the upcoming all-electric sedan.

What we know so far?

As you already known, the IONIQ 6 (internal codename CE) were delayed around 3 months from the original time schedule of launch and mass production (March/April 2022). The reason was Hyundai wants to improve some internal/external parts of the vehicle that were not to the taste of Chairman Mr. Eui-sun Chung.

The external changes are related to the front and rear bumpers, according to the source, the design was changed and now the car is 20mm longer, this design changes will give extra mileage.

Also Hyundai plans to introduce world’s first intelligent lightning grille (we talked about this here). Inside Hyundai will use a bigger battery pack, reaching 77,4 kWh, again looking for additional range.

On the 22nd, Hyundai Motor Company held a conference call for ‘Announcement of EV (Electric Vehicle) Strategy for the First Quarter of 2021’ and said, “We plan to sell 160,000 units of 8 different electric vehicles this year, and set a goal to expand sales to 560,000 units of 12 EV models in 2025.”

Hyundai Motor Company plans to release the IONIQ 6 (codenamed as CE), first electric sedan model during June, with production starting at Hyundai’s Asan Plan on July. The most powerful power combination, at least ay launch, will be a dual motor and All-Wheel Drive with 308 hp.

The South Korean carmaker plans to introduce the IONIQ 6 Sedan, to be based on the EV concept ‘Propechy’ during the second quarter of 2022, depending on the market. The IONIQ range will be completed in early 2024 with the launch of a larger SUV, to be called as IONIQ 7.

The IONIQ 6 will also sits on the Electric Global Modular Platform known as E-GMP that offers fast charging and a rich driving range. It is confirmed that the IONIQ 6 will have 515 km range, it is still unknown if this measure is for South Korea or overseas. In case is certified for South Korea, the range in Europe or USA could reach 550km or 340 miles, respectively.

The dedicated EV platform will enable Hyundai to reimagine the vehicle interior as a “smart living space”, with unique features such as highly adjustable seats, wireless connectivity and drawers. The platform paradigm shift will be extended to the user interface. The user interface is simple, intuitive and ergonomically designed to help passengers feel comfortable.

So we can’t wait to see more about IONIQ’s sedan proposal, sure with the first leaks to appear soon.
