Yesterday we shared the very first spy pictures that confirmed Kia is already preparing an update for its mid-size SUV, the 4th generation Sorento (codenamed as MQ4) thanks to our colleagues at Shortscar. Today the guys at Kolesa taking inspiration of the recently updated Seltos, what do you think?
Captured near Hyundai-Kia R&D Center, the updated Kia Sorento was captured heavily camouflaged so it is difficult to see differences. The bigger differences that we can appreciate affects the front design while the rear taillights remains the same.
Talking about the powertrain, we don’t expect many changes compared to the currently line-up as the company closed the internal combustion engine departments. So a small fine-tuning to meet the increasingly strict anti-pollution regulations is the only thing we can expect from the powertrain side.
As for the inside, looking at the latest updated models like Telluride or Seltos, you can bet Kia will apply the same dual 12,3″ screen curved glass and the latest safety and tech features. It is difficult to know when Kia plans to release this facelift but we don’t expect it before the end of 2023 and for South Korea. With European and US-spec models arriving in 2024.
With the world facing through a semiconductor shortage and the current Sorento suffering of 14 months wait time in South Korea, it is difficult to predict if these schedules will be fulfilled. It looks like some of the orders will be delivered as a refreshed model if that situation does not get better during 2023.
What do you expect about the updated KIA Sorento?
