The all new Genesis GV90 prototype has been caught for the first time by our colleagues at SB-Medien during hot weather test near Death Valley, California not that long ago and after we have revealed exclusive details of the future high-end electric SUV, our colleagues at NYMammoth dare to create a rendering imagining how it will look.
The new flagship was hot weather testing in Death Valley last week before the flooding and difficult weather conditions which we have right now on the hottest place on earth. This is the first time that the new Genesis GV90 could be seen with the production body. Engineers were protecting the prototype very strong, so that we were not able to get more pictures. But the difference between this new GV90 and the GV80 could be seen easily.
The GV90 is a next-generation electric vehicle under development by Hyundai Motor Group and it will be the first large electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) to be introduced under the Genesis brand. Hyundai Motor Company plans to strenght its luxury strategy by taking the positioning of the Genesis GV90, which is scheduled to be released by the end of 2025, as a ‘high-end’ vehicle. What does it mean?
Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis has decided to change the product positioning of its large electric flagship SUV, the GV90, from ‘luxury’ to ‘high-end’. Hyundai Motor has been advocating Genesis as a luxury brand, but the GV90 is determined to reach a new segment in the market. Inside the Hyundai Motor Group, high-end examples include Land Rover Range Rover, Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan, all of this vehicles were benchmarked by Genesis.
But there’s more, Genesis will prepare a special model that will be launched three or four months after the release of the GV90. This model will have a Coach Door. We already have seen this feature at Rolls-Royce vehicles. This special model will be built in a limited bunch and only a few hundred units will be made
The GV90 is scheduled to be mass-produced in South Korea in February 2026, with first official images/world premiere to be held before the end of 2025. It is planned to be launched sequentially in Europe (April 2026) and in North America (June 2026). At first, it was planned to start the production at the end of 2025, but recently, some of the items and mass production schedule were changed because of the product positioning change. Following E-GMP, the GV90 will be equipped with Hyundai’s latest dedicated platform for electric vehicles, the ‘eM’, that will be premiered in 2025.
