A new report from ETNews said Hyundai Motor Company will put N Vision 74 into production by the 2026 with a limited production of only 100 units. Hyundai’s N Vision 74 uses hydrogen and electricity at the same time to perform 800 horsepower.
According to ETNews sources, Hyundai has finally decided to build 100 units of the hydrogen electric concept car ‘N Vision 74’ based on the ‘Pony Coupe’ design in the first half of 2026, and is discussing a detailed plan with its partners. The possibility of mass production of N Vision 74 has been raised several times, but this is the first time it has actually been confirmed.
The big frame of the new car is based on the N Vision 74, which Hyundai Motor unveiled in July last year. The N Vision 74 is a modern reinterpretation of the Pony Coupe design, which debuted in 1974, and was developed as a ‘rolling lab’, with Hyundai Motor’s latest technologies. The particularity of this system is although the N Vision 74 uses a hydrogen-electric hybrid drivetrain, it boasts a system configuration that is different from a general hydrogen fuel cell or battery-based electric vehicle.
Unlike the existing hydrogen fuel cell vehicle that uses an integrated hydrogen fuel cell stack and motor, this rolling lab separates the two. This is to improve cooling control and airflow and to integrate the driving battery with the body structure. Accordingly, a hydrogen fuel cell stack was mounted on the front axle of the N Vision 74, and a drive motor and two 2.1kg hydrogen tanks were placed on the rear axle. And the battery is arranged in a T-shape in the center of the body.
“N Vision 74 play an important role in the strategic development of our entire product lineup, especially our electrified, high-performance vehicles. Rolling labs represent the continuous development of our most advanced technologies. This unique approach makes us ready for the challenges of the future by empowering us to push ourselves to the limit.” said Thomas Schemera – Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Division at Hyundai Motor Company.
“Since launching its very first high-performance production road car in 2017, Hyundai i30 N, N has pushed the limits of performance to help customers discover how fun driving can be. The brand claim is ‘Never just drive’ because getting from A to B should never be boring. Even in the electric future, N brand pursues its three pillars: corner rascal (tight, perfectly balanced cornering machine), racetrack capability (all N models are built to perform directly on the track) and everyday sportscar (for everyone and every need, not just track days and highways). In just seven years, Hyundai N has become the fastest evolving performance brand. N is moving forward to set new standards in sustainable high performance. We enthusiastically start this new chapter of electrified high-performance and will pursue this goal by using our creativity, engineering expertise and competitive spirit.” Till Wartenberg – Vice President of N Brand Management & Motorsport Sub-Division at Hyundai Motor Company
Specifications targeted by Hyundai are the following:
- 800 hp (120 hp higher than the original concept that had 680 hp)
- 0 to 100 km/h of 3 seconds.
- A range of 400 to 500 km. (the concept had 600km).
- Limited to 100 units (70 units for final customers, 30 for racing purposes).
Kim Pil-soo, a professor at the Department of Future Automobile at Daelim University, said, “If the N Vision 74 mass production type comes out, you don’t have to think about the number of units sold. It is a supercar that challenges extreme performance and has a symbolic meaning, so it will bring enough effect against investment.”
