Revealed for the first time in June 2021, the South Korean carmaker is already preparing the KIA Sportage facelift, and following the recently facelifts made by KIA, our colleagues at NYMammoth imagined how it could look. The rendering shows a new front fascia inspired by what we already have seen in the Sorento and Carnival.
Despite we haven’t captured it yet, the South Korean carmaker prototypes are already testing inside Hyundai-Kia R&D Center, with first camouflaged prototypes to hit the real world early 2024. When this happened, probably we don’t see the updated Hyundai Tucson was spotted heavily camouflaged so it is difficult to see differences. We cannot appreciate any bigger differences that affects any part of the design as this is probably in an early stage of development.
Talking about the powertrain, we don’t expect many changes compared to the currently line-up despite a small fine-tuning to make the engines more efficient and probably adding a higher density battery pack to increase the electric range in the PHEV variant. Another change confirmed is the discontinuation of DCT transmission in place of the 8-speed AT.
As for the inside and looking at the recently launched Sorento or Carnival, you can bet Kia will apply the same third screen curved glass system as well as the latest safety and tech features including on demand features for the refreshed KIA Sportage.
A new EV9-inspired steering wheel, a pair of 12,3 curved displays with cNCC Infotainment system and more will be added to the updated Sportage. It is difficult to know when KIA plans to release this facelift but we don’t expect it before end of 2024 in South Korea, with European and US-spec models arriving by 2025.
What do you expect for the updated Sportage?
