The Hyundai IONIQ 7 will be launched in the second half of 2024 and with that schedule in mind, the South Korean carmarker is already testing for the first time its P1 prototype. What this means? The P1 model is the first produced vehicle in the assembly line with almost the full specifications and finish the production model will have. With tests already underway on public roads, the IONIQ 7 retains key design elements from the Seven prototype, including square wheel arches and a sloping roof profile, projecting an imposing yet futuristic presence. Additionally, its innovative lighting with dual-level headlights and a daytime running light strip at the hood’s end not only enhances visibility but also accentuates its width.
Sustainability is a key pillar for Hyundai, reflected in measures such as eco-friendly paints derived from recycled tires and bamboo charcoal pigments. Inside, a futuristic minimalism is expected, with extensive use of white color and sustainable alternative materials, positioning the IONIQ 7 as an eco-friendly luxury vehicle.
Technically, the IONIQ 7 is likely to offer both two-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, with a ground clearance of about 8 inches. It may share core components with the Kia EV9, including battery options of 76.1 kWh and 99.8 kWh, with rapid charging times of just 25 minutes for 10-80% using 350 kW chargers.
Regarding autonomous driving, the IONIQ 7 is expected to offer features like remote parking assist and over-the-air software updates, emphasizing its focus on technology and comfort. Additionally, the V2L feature will enable users to harness the energy stored in the vehicle’s battery to power external devices.
Production is set to commence in July 2024 at the Hyundai Asan plant in South Korea, with plans for manufacturing in a new smart factory in Bryan County, Georgia, starting from 2025. Remember that this large SUV will be even bigger than KIA’s EV9.
