Like others did – Hyundai with the N Line or Kia with the GT Line – it looks like Genesis is preparing something with the Magma program. This program will add a new dimension to Genesis, marking the brand’s expansion into the realm of high-performance vehicles.
Genesis ultimately aims to develop a high-performance Magma model for each production vehicle in the existing lineup, maximizing both aesthetics and performance. At the NY AutoShow, the South Korean luxury automaker showcased the GV60 Magma Concept a model that according Genesis, its headed for production.
“Genesis Magma presents an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of performance and luxury for new interpretations in high-performance vehicles, with the ultimate goal of developing models exclusive to Genesis,” said Donckerwolke. “The brand will continue to reveal experimental concepts with careful consideration of both technological and aesthetic elements. While speed and performance are important, the Genesis Magma program will look beyond, prioritizing the driving experience to kindle the joy of sporty driving with effortless comfort.”
Now our colleagues at Healer TV found an interesting easter egg inside a Genesis GV60 prototype or just a proof that Genesis will also add a Magma Line to its line-up. Inside a parking lot, a prototype of the updated GV60 was found with new seats made of leather and Alcantara and something comes to mind when looking at that orange stitching. Yeah, that’s Genesis new performance color.
The GV60 competes with models like the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron and the Lexus RZ, offering a mix of performance, technology, and luxury, including a distinctive interior with innovative features like the Crystal Sphere gear selector and advanced safety systems.
The Genesis GV60 currently offers two powertrain configurations, both featuring dual motors and all-wheel drive. The Advanced AWD version produces 314 horsepower and 446 lb.-ft. of torque, while the Performance AWD variant increases output to 429 horsepower (483 hp in Boost Mode) and maintains the same torque.
The facelift GV60 should add the new 84 kWh battery pack we have seen in the IONIQ 5 facelift. Thanks to that and the 10% to 80% fast charging in about 18 minutes, the updated GV60 should improve the current EPA-estimated range of 248 miles – 400km.
The “real“ Magma model should arrive sometime later the launch of the updated GV60, set for a full reveal by the end of 2024.
