G Binary Frost

A few days ago we have shared the G Magma Binary, an evolution of the previous Project 712 G Magma model, designed for all-weather driving performance. Our colleagues at WRD collaborated with 3D designer Brian Kim to bring this concept to life. Now they released with G Magma Binary Frost Phantom, a reinterpretation of the G Magma Binary, now ready to conquer the coldest landscapes.

Design and Features

The G Magma Binary’s exterior pursues both ruggedness and sophistication. The ride height has been increased for better off-road capability, and skid plates have been installed front and rear to protect the body. The @delta4x4 wheels, specialized for off-road use, add a tough appeal, with cladding around the protruding tires. LED bars on the roof carrier and additional LED lamps on the radiator grille ensure good visibility during night driving. The Dune Strider color and graphic pattern, revealed first, were inspired by the G70 GR4 Gran Turismo concept, completing a dynamic image. Stay tuned for the upcoming reveal of the Frost Phantom color.

Practicality and Durability

The G Magma Binary was designed with actual off-road driving in mind. The black plastic parts in the underbody are all treated with mold texturing for increased durability. The plastic parts’ molds have a rough texture to minimize damage during off-road driving. While luxury brands are introducing similar models, one might question who would actually take multi-million dollar Porsches or Lamborghinis on unpaved roads. The G Magma Binary aims to avoid such nonsense. Along with front and rear skid plates, it’s designed to be driven on rough terrain as intended. This isn’t just for show, but a careful consideration for actual off-road driving. The G Magma Binary is a true cross-country vehicle, designed to drive confidently in any terrain and environment.

Historical Context

The history of cross-country models begins with the 1997 Volvo V70 XC. Following Volvo, which branded the term “Cross Country,” Audi introduced the Allroad Quattro in 1999. These cars pioneered a new market by combining the practicality of wagons with SUV driving performance. The G Magma Binary is inspired by these models, reinterpreted with a modern sensibility. Like the cross-country models of the past, the G Magma Binary aims to present a new mix with differentiated design and performance.

Market Trends

Recently, luxury brands have been introducing high-performance vehicles with off-road capabilities, such as the Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato. This reflects the need for new differentiation strategies in a saturated SUV market and increased outdoor demand post-COVID-19, along with growing environmental awareness and nostalgia trends. The G Magma Binary reflects these market trends while taking a realistic approach to meet actual users’ needs. Existing D and E-segment cross-country models focused more on wagon practicality with added SUV utility rather than sportiness. The 911 Dakar and Huracán Sterrato transplanted SUV off-road capabilities onto sports cars. The G Magma Binary adds all-weather driving performance to the wagon form factor and sporty driving performance of the G Magma, creating a unique point that doesn’t overlap with any other car. It offers a new alternative that satisfies luxury, practicality, and a sense of adventure simultaneously.

Future Outlook

In the current automotive market dominated by electric vehicles and SUVs, cross-country models can be a unique differentiating point. The G Magma Binary maximizes this potential. As the name “Binary” suggests, this car encompasses on-road and off-road, city and nature, cutting-edge technology and classic sensibility. Regardless of how the automotive market changes in the future, we expect there will continue to be demand for versatile, mixed models like the G Magma Binary. This is the possibility WRD presents through the G Magma Binary.
