Kia has unveiled the next-generation 2027 Kia Telluride SUV at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show, introducing a bold new design, upgraded technology, and an all-new turbocharged hybrid powertrain. As Kia’s flagship three-row SUV, the second-generation Telluride builds on the original model’s success while offering more space, refinement, and capability.

SeungKyu (Sean) Yoon, President and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America, emphasized the challenge of evolving such a successful vehicle. He explained that the team aimed to create an all-new SUV that stands on its own while retaining the qualities that made the first Telluride so popular.

The 2027 Telluride will be available in LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-Prestige trims, along with the rugged X-Line and X-Pro models. U.S. sales are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with pricing announced closer to launch.

Stronger Road Presence With a More Aerodynamic Exterior

The redesigned Telluride grows in size with a longer wheelbase and overall length, contributing to improved interior space and cargo capacity. Inspired by Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, the new exterior features a broad hood, vertical headlamps, fluid body lines, and distinctive triangular fender creases. The front fascia integrates a high-gloss grille and optional blacked-out elements on X-Line and X-Pro models.

Additional exterior highlights include:

  • Flush door handles for a modern, clean profile
  • Improved aerodynamics with a lower drag coefficient of 0.30
  • X-Pro exclusive 9.1 inches of ground clearance and all-terrain tires
  • X-Line exclusive 21-inch wheels

Premium Interior Designed as a Calm, Spacious Sanctuary

The interior of the 2027 Telluride blends natural textures and premium materials with modern technology. A curved, wrap-around digital display setup dominates the dash, while warm wood-inspired accents, hidden door handles, and upgraded seating surfaces elevate the cabin.

Interior comfort and convenience features include:

  • Available relaxation front seats with power leg rests
  • Ergo Motion driver’s seat with massage functions
  • New memory-enabled power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel
  • Standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Dual wireless charging pads
  • Available heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs
  • Available heated third-row seats
  • Multiple USB-C ports across all three rows

The extended proportions of the new model create additional legroom in the second and third rows. Cargo capacity increases as well, with up to 86.9 cubic feet available with the rear seats folded. A redesigned second-row bench seat now allows most child seats to remain installed while still permitting access to the third row.

Next-Level Technology With AI Features and Built-In Streaming

Technology takes a major leap forward with Kia’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) operating system, which can be paired with dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays. Over-the-air updates ensure the vehicle’s software remains up to date.

Tech highlights include:

  • Kia’s generative AI voice assistant activated with “Hey, Kia”
  • Available Meridian premium audio system with 14 speakers
  • Enhanced Digital Key 2.0 support for smartphones and smart cards
  • Larger 12-inch head-up display
  • Full Display Digital Rear View Mirror on SXP trims
  • Streaming apps including Disney+, Netflix, and YouTube
  • Optional custom display themes from Disney and all 30 NBA teams
  • Kia myQ Connected Garage for automatic garage door control

New Hybrid Powertrain Delivers More Power and Better Efficiency

The 2027 Telluride offers two powertrain options: a more powerful turbocharged gas engine and a completely new turbo hybrid system.

Turbocharged Gas Engine

  • 274 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque
  • Eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Up to 5,000 pounds of towing capacity
  • Available all-wheel drive with center differential lock

All-New Turbo Hybrid Powertrain

  • Kia-estimated 35 MPG combined
  • Up to 600 miles of estimated driving range
  • Six-speed automatic transmission
  • Available all-wheel drive with electronic dynamic torque vectoring

All models now feature rack-mounted motor-driven power steering, enhancing handling precision and stability.

The hybrid model also introduces Stay Mode, which powers climate control, lighting, and entertainment for about 20 minutes using the battery alone, ideal for short waits without starting the engine.

X-Pro Model Ready for Off-Road Adventures

The Telluride X-Pro caters to drivers who want real off-road capability. Its exclusive hardware includes additional suspension travel, all-terrain tires, 9.1 inches of ground clearance, e-LSD, and front and rear recovery points.

A new Ground View Monitor provides a composite camera view of the terrain at low speeds, while LED ground lighting around the vehicle assists with nighttime outdoor activities.

Enhanced Safety and Driver Assistance Technology

The 2027 Telluride includes a comprehensive suite of ADAS features such as Highway Driving Assist, Lane Following Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist.

Additional highlights:

  • New front-row center airbag for added protection
  • Radar-based Rear Occupant Alert with escalating reminders

  • Blind-Spot View Monitor for enhanced lane-change visibility

The SUV includes 10 standard airbags and multiple advanced collision avoidance systems designed for peace of mind in daily driving.
