The Kia Niro is almost ready to show off at an autoshow in the beginning of 2016 but before that is making another appearance at what it seems an underground parking lot hiding with all its camouflage. The all-new Hybrid vehicle by Kia Motors is constantly performing tests before its unveiled.
[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]The Niro is Kia’s first attempt to win over this segment on the car industries, Hybrid Utility Vehicle (HUV), which is rapidly growing globally. Kia sees this new opportunity and creates the Kia Niro, a new eco-friendly model based own it’s own platform using Kia’s latest hybrid powertrain.
The style of the Niro has been designed and developed at the design centers in California, USA (HATCI) taking the shape of a compact SUV. In all Kia’s models, the Niro will right between the Soul and Sportage.
So far we know the first powertrain used by Kia is the 1.6-liter ‘Kappa’ gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine (105 PS power output and 147 Nm of torque) with a 1.56 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack and 32 kW electric motor. The powertrain’s combined power output and torque will be applied to the road through a highly-efficient six-speed double-clutch transmission.
For all Eco-friendly people, this car will achieve its ultra-low emissions levels and impressive fuel economy thanks to the downsized hybrid Powertrain. We are also expecting a Plug-in hybrid powertrain added on the Niro line-up but it might take some time before we see it on the road.
The interior design is currently unknown mainly due to its all new platform made exclusively for the Niro, but on the picture we can see part of the passenger door which has with a metallic look plastic that meets with the door latch and the window switch. We are guessing the arm rest might be leather and the rest of the door could plastic in white or beige color.
The new Kia Niro Hybrid Utility Vehicle production for overseas markets is scheduled to start in late 2016. The car will be built at Kia’s Hwasung.
We are getting closer and closer to its unveiled and we cant wait to see it and eventually test drive it.
