We recently have caught a mysterious Kia Telluride prototype parked in a service area in South Korea wearing weird test wheels and once again we have received more pictures, this time captured while driving in the highway where we can see is the same unit and has GT-Line badge on the tailgate. What is that?

The Kia Telluride has recently named World Car of the Year and at the same time it is Kia Motors America best selling SUV and a total success. Looks like Kia is already on initial stages of development of the mid-cycle facelift as we can see in this picture caught in South Korea.

Telluride sold a total of 58,860 vehicles in the US market last year. As the contract volume still remains last year, the company plans to resolve the local inventory problem through the production decision.

Telluride’s popularity is evidenced by its awards. This is because the company achieved triple crowns in the North American market by dominating 2020 North American Car of the Year, Motor Trend S20 of the Year 2020, and Car & Driver 2020 10 Best. In particular, North America’s Car of the Year added meaning in that it was the first award of Kia Motors.

Due to the success, Kia Motors held a conference at its head office in Yangjae-dong, Seoul earlier this year, and said it will raise its production target for Telluride SUV to 100,000 units a year. Telluride, which was released in February last year, has been already sold almost 60,000 units since launch. In addition, the company plans to strengthen its succesful SUV line-up with new packages like the one you can see in the picture above.

The Telluride X-Line would be a $1,695 package and would largely focus on changing the crossover’s aesthetics, rather than adding off-road ability. The additional features would allegedly include a set of black, six-spoke wheels with cutout details. The survey also suggests the equipment could include a satin black grille and body-color door handles.

But this new picture could confirm Kia is also working on an sport package instead of a facelift, that could be called as GT-Line, for the Telluride. Which improvements should Telluride GT-Line add? Turbo engine? Fully painted coloured body?
