Back in March Kia Corporation unveiled the Concept EV5 at Kia’s Chinese EV Day. The all-electric SUV concept took center stage at the event to present the brand’s strategy to establish global leadership in electrification, now we could be in front of EV5 test mule using a Kia EV6 that our colleagues at Motorsjason spotted in South Korea.
The mysterious vehicle was caught in the streets near Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D Center in Namyang, South Korea and despite we don’t know what this could be, it is clear that Kia are trying to play distraction using EV6 body, but several devices attached to the front and rear wheels announce us that the South Korean carmaker is testing a new drivetrain that according to the scale could be next EV5.
The chassis testing mule had a slightly modified body of the Kia EV6 with apparently similar wheelbase but could be hiding a different model.
Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, which celebrates the creative tension formed from the fusion of often seemingly contrasting visual influences of nature and modernity, has galvanized Kia’s design team in the delivery of the Concept EV5’s striking aesthetics. In particular, the ‘Bold for Nature’ pillar of the philosophy has influenced the form and stance of the Concept EV5, creating a unique SUV to support those pursuing a ‘borderless life’ where there is no boundary between their enjoyment and appreciation of nature and the city.
These are the very first spy shots of an expected SUV that should arrive by the end 2023 in China, later Kia will launch in selected markets that could be USA or Europe.
