Hyundai has been sighted conducting tests for the electric Creta model. The prototype of this electric vehicle (EV) was recently seen on the Korean roads withouth any camouflage, retaining the appearance of the current model available in the market.

While the production version of the Creta EV is expected to arrive by 2025, its release may coincide with either a new generation or a facelifted iteration.

Observers noted a distinct protrusion beneath the car’s body, speculated to house the electric vehicle battery pack. Notably, the absence of exhaust pipes and the absence of any engine noise from the prototype further solidified its electric nature.

Hyundai has remained tight-lipped about specific details concerning the electric powertrain and battery pack. However, industry expectations suggest that the production model of the Creta EV will deliver remarkable performance and an impressive driving range.

Presently, Hyundai offers two electric models in the Indian market – the Ioniq 5 and the Kona EV. As part of its strategy to cater to both local and global markets, Hyundai plans to fully localize the E-GMP platform, which will serve as the foundation for the Creta EV and upcoming electric models.

Envisioned to fall within the price bracket of Rs. 25-30 lakhs upon its debut, the Hyundai Creta EV is anticipated to compete with rivals such as the Harrier EV, Seltos EV, and the upcoming electric vehicle from Maruti. Hyundai has outlined an ambitious roadmap, aiming to introduce six electric vehicles in India by 2028.

As Hyundai continues to expand its electric vehicle portfolio, the impending launch of the Creta EV is poised to intensify the competition in India’s burgeoning electric vehicle market.
