Kia unveiled the front and back design of the EV6 facelift a few days ago through teaser images of the product improvement model ‘The new EV6’, which will be introduced after three years of EV6’s launch. Now, it already completed Certification in South Korea, revealing some details ahead of the official launch.
In terms of design, Kia applied to the EV6 facelift a daytime driving light (DRL) reflecting the new family look ‘Star Map Signature Lighting’, creating a more dynamic and future-oriented feeling.
Launched in August 2021, it was Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle model under Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicle-only platform E-GMP-based. Now it will be updated with a new 84 kWh battery pack we already have seen in the updated IONIQ 5.
Despite the Korean certification system which now gives the EV6 up to 505 km of range (24 km more than the current model), when the model arrives into USA or Europe, should reach 370 miles EPA (600km WLTP) in the RWD 19 inch alloy wheels model as the certification methods are different, and currently it already offered more range in these countries compared to South Korea.
The EV6 won the Korean brand’s first ‘European Car of the Year’ in 2022 for its eye-catching design and excellent electrification, followed by the ‘The North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year’ in 2023 while the high-performance version or EV6 GT, won the ‘World Performance Car of the Year’ at the 2023 World Car Awards.
Kia will release specific product information such as the design and detailed specifications of the new EV6, which has enhanced its product quality this month.
