Kia America revealed the high-performance 2026 Kia EV9 GT SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show a few days ago. Now our colleagues at Healer TV captured this electric three-row SUV completely undisguised.

Powerful Performance and Speed

The Kia EV9 GT delivers an impressive 501 horsepower, thanks to dual electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles. This represents a substantial upgrade from the EV9 GT-Line’s 379 horsepower, making the EV9 GT Kia’s most powerful three-row SUV to date. The EV9 GT can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, a feat that places it among the fastest in its category.

To complement its power, the EV9 GT is equipped with upgraded brakes featuring neon green GT-badged calipers, ensuring strong and reliable stopping power.

Enhanced Handling and Ride Comfort

The EV9 GT introduces Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS), a first for Kia’s SUV lineup. This innovative system allows drivers to tailor the vehicle’s performance to their preferences, with drive modes including NormalEcoSport, and a customizable My Drive option. The GT Mode, activated via a bright green button on the steering wheel, stiffens the suspension for maximum performance.

To enhance the driving experience further, Kia has incorporated Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) technology, which mimics the feel of a traditional step-shift automatic transmission. Paired with Active Sound Design (e-ASD), VGS simulates gear shifts audibly and physically, adding a dynamic edge to the EV9 GT’s performance.

An electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) ensures stability and control by redistributing torque to the wheels with the most traction during cornering, further enhancing the SUV’s handling.

Efficient Charging and Long-Range Capability

The EV9 GT retains Kia’s advanced 800-volt fast-charging architecture, enabling rapid charging from 10% to 80% in under 25 minutes with compatible DC fast chargers. Starting in 2025, the EV9 lineup will feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, providing access to more than 35,000 DC fast chargers across the United States.

Distinctive Design Features

The EV9 GT stands out with unique exterior and interior styling. Key design elements include:

  • 21-inch alloy wheels fitted with high-performance tires.
  • Neon green calipers and a striking ENERGETIC lighting pattern exclusive to the GT trim.
  • Sporty Alcantara suede seats, embossed with the GT logo, and neon green accents throughout the cabin.
  • 12.3-inch display screen with GT-specific graphics and customizable ambient lighting.

These features create a bold, dynamic aesthetic that underscores the EV9 GT’s performance pedigree.

Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance

The EV9 GT comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2: Detects vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians, with evasive steering support.
  • Parking Collision Avoidance Assist: Provides warnings and automatic braking to prevent collisions during parking.
  • Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control: Adjusts speed automatically for smoother cornering.

Additional features include Blind-Spot View MonitorSurround View Monitor, and Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA 2).

A Practical Yet Thrilling SUV

Designed to balance performance and practicality, the EV9 GT offers seating for six passengers and retains the 7.8-inch ground clearance and 5,000-lb towing capacity found in other EV9 trims. Assembled in South Korea, the EV9 GT is expected to arrive in the latter half of 2025, with pricing details to be announced closer to its release.
