Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the key specifications and pricing for the all-new PALISADE, its flagship large SUV set to launch early next year, and commenced pre-orders on Friday, December 20, 2024.

Refined Interior Design and Maximized Space Utilization

The new PALISADE boasts an extended length of 5,060 mm and a wheelbase of 2,970 mm, providing a spacious interior. Hyundai has meticulously arranged interior components such as seats, consoles, and dashboards to create a comfortable and premium atmosphere, utilizing soft materials and precise finishes.

The island-type center console includes features like a wireless charger, USB-C ports capable of up to 100W charging, large cup holders, and ample storage space. The 9-seater model offers a foldable multi-console that can serve as a middle seat in the first row, enhancing space utilization, and is equipped with a center dual airbag for passenger safety.

The 2nd-row seats in the 9-seater variant feature power folding, sliding, reclining, and wing-out headrest functions for maximum comfort. The 7-seater model’s 2nd-row independent seats include a relaxation comfort function, and can be upgraded to dynamic body care seats with a massage feature.

A tilting walk-in function allows the seats to tilt forward, providing an additional 92 mm of space for easy access to the 3rd row, even with a child seat installed. The 3rd row features enlarged rear quarter glass for an open feel and power 6:4 split seats that slide up to 110 mm, allowing flexible adjustment between passenger and cargo space.

With a rear overhang increased by 35 mm and 3rd-row seats that can move forward by up to 70 mm, the PALISADE offers a generous cargo capacity of up to 615 liters, accommodating four golf bags and Boston bags simultaneously.

Introduction of 2.5 Turbo Hybrid Powertrain

Responding to the demand for eco-friendly vehicles, Hyundai has introduced a 2.5 Turbo Hybrid powertrain in the PALISADE, marking its first application in Hyundai’s lineup. This model delivers a combined output of 334 horsepower and exceptional efficiency, enabling a driving range exceeding 1,000 km on a single tank. (Fuel efficiency figures for the hybrid model will be announced after government certification.)

The PALISADE also incorporates advanced driving technologies utilizing the drive motor, such as E-Ride, E-Handling, Electrically Evasive Handling Assist (E-EHA), and Electric Assisted Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (e-DTVC), enhancing ride comfort and performance.

Additionally, it features a 1.65 kWh 300V lithium-ion battery, offering functions like interior Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Stay Mode, providing convenience technologies previously exclusive to electric vehicles.

The newly introduced Stay Mode adjusts battery charge upon reaching the navigation destination, allowing the use of air conditioning, infotainment, and other functions without the engine running for a certain period, enhancing convenience.

Hyundai continues to offer a 2.5 Turbo gasoline engine model, replacing the previous 3.8 gasoline engine. This variant delivers a maximum output of 281 horsepower, a peak torque of 43.0 kgf·m, and a combined fuel efficiency of 9.7 km/l. The turbo system improves initial acceleration response, providing a more dynamic driving experience.

Advanced Safety and Convenience Features

The PALISADE is the first Hyundai SUV to feature Preview Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS), which uses sensors and navigation data to predict road conditions and adjust damping force accordingly, minimizing vehicle motion for a comfortable ride.

Enhanced soundproofing, including thicker front and rear door glass and improved insulation, ensures a quieter cabin. The Crosswind Stability Control (CSC) function provides safe driving in strong winds by applying appropriate braking and steering control to prevent vehicle swaying.

The vehicle is equipped with Built-in Cam 2 Plus, capable of recording for up to four days while parked, and features rearview monitor and digital center mirror camera cleaning functions, allowing easy removal of water or dust using high-pressure washer fluid.

Advanced safety technologies include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with junction crossing, oncoming vehicle, side approach, and evasive steering assist; Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC) for safe zones, curves, and ramps; Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2); Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) during driving; Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) during forward parking; Safe Exit Assist (SEA); Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA); Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA); Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA); Side Parking Distance Warning; Advanced Rear Occupant Alert; and Steering Wheel Grip Detection (HoD).

Convenience features include Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, an interior fingerprint authentication system for personalization, ignition, and payments; a 14-speaker BOSE premium sound system with external amplifier; In-Car Payment; Hyundai Digital Key 2; and Hyundai AI Assistant.

Notably, the Remote Smart Parking Assist function, previously available only with the smart key, is now accessible via Digital Key 2, allowing remote parking using a smartphone.

Additionally, Hyundai plans to offer customization options such as a Lifestyle Package, including LED tailgate lamps, LED door spot lamps, and a luggage protection mat, as well as side steps to assist family passengers in boarding and alighting.
