The very first spy shots of the upcoming KIA Niro facelift were captured by our colleagues at ShortsCar, showcasing a refreshed look that brings the compact crossover in line with KIA’s latest design language. Now and thanks to our colleagues at Gotcha Cars we can see how it could look when the updated model will be launched.

While the exterior tweaks modernize its road presence, it’s the cabin updates that are making headlines — including a nearly 30-inch widescreen display and KIA’s latest ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) infotainment system.

Exterior Design Updates: Star Map LEDs and Sportier Bumpers

From the spy shots, it’s clear that KIA is dialing up the styling. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned with sharper contours and sportier elements, suggesting a more aggressive look.

The adoption of Star Map headlights, a feature first seen on the EV9 and upcoming EV3, further signals KIA’s push toward a unified brand identity across both combustion and electric models. These new lighting elements add a futuristic edge, enhancing visibility and curb appeal.

Interior Overhaul: 30-Inch Display and Advanced Infotainment

The updated Niro is poised to leap ahead in cabin technology. Leaked images suggest a near-30-inch curved widescreen display, stretching across the dashboard and blending the instrument cluster with the central infotainment screen.

This new setup will integrate the ccNC infotainment system, which brings improved graphics, faster response times, and enhanced connectivity features like over-the-air (OTA) updates, real-time navigation, and better smartphone integration.

Will the e-Niro Be Discontinued?

Interestingly, rumors are swirling that the facelifted KIA Niro might not extend to the all-electric e-Niro. With the brand-new KIA EV3 already on sale — a similarly sized electric SUV based on the E-GMP platform — KIA may phase out the e-Niro altogether.

This move would align with the brand’s broader electrification strategy, which is increasingly focused on purpose-built EVs. The facelift, then, could be exclusive to the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) versions of the Niro.

KIA’s EV Strategy: Making Way for the EV3

The KIA EV3 offers a more modern electric SUV platform, better range, and cutting-edge features at a competitive price. As a result, maintaining both the EV3 and e-Niro in the same segment may not make commercial sense.

If KIA does decide to discontinue the e-Niro, it will mark a strategic shift toward consolidating EV offerings under the “EV” naming series — leaving the Niro nameplate to cater to hybrid buyers seeking a versatile, eco-friendly crossover.

Final Thoughts

The KIA Niro facelift represents a thoughtful evolution of one of KIA’s most popular crossovers. With sharp new styling, advanced tech, and an interior worthy of a premium badge, it’s set to keep the Niro relevant in a crowded segment. However, the future of the e-Niro hangs in the balance, as the EV3’s success may signal its quiet retirement.
