The Genesis GV60 Magma, the first mass-produced model of Genesis’ new high-performance sub-brand “Magma,” will debut in Korea in late 2025. Discover its design, specs, production details, and future expansion plans.
Genesis GV60 Magma: Launch Timeline
The Genesis GV60 Magma, the inaugural model of the new Genesis Magma high-performance sub-brand, is set for domestic launch soon. Production will begin at Hyundai’s Ulsan plant in Q3 2025, with sales officially starting in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Genesis first introduced the GV60 Magma Concept at Genesis House New York in March 2024, announcing that it would be the first Magma-branded production vehicle.
Magma: A New High-Performance Identity
The Magma sub-brand, developed under the leadership of Hyundai Motor Company’s European Technology Center (HMETC) in Rüsselsheim, Germany, represents Genesis’ entry into the world of dynamic design and high-performance EVs.
The GV60 Magma is based on the Genesis GV60, the brand’s first dedicated EV, but significantly upgraded in chassis engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, battery cooling, and driving stability.
Design & Aerodynamic Enhancements
The production GV60 Magma inherits the aggressive design DNA of the concept model:
- Wider and lower stance for improved driving stability
- Redesigned air intake to cool battery, motors, and brakes
- Air curtain system for enhanced aerodynamic efficiency
- Titanium-colored flow-forming 21-inch wheels with integrated aero discs to improve brake cooling
- Aerodynamic rear loop and wing that generate rear downforce

Interior: Crafted for Performance
Inside, the GV60 Magma interior emphasizes both luxury and motorsport-inspired performance:
- High-performance bucket seats wrapped in Nappa leather and suede
- Double diamond stitching in magma-inspired orange and titanium gray
- Driver-focused cockpit optimized for track-ready performance
Performance & Technology
While official specs have not yet been confirmed, the GV60 Magma will share hardware with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, which produces 478 kW (641 hp) and 770 Nm of torque, delivering the most powerful EV performance in Hyundai Motor Group to date.
However, Genesis promises that the GV60 Magma will go beyond shared hardware, featuring a software upgrade designed to provide a unique Magma driving feel.
Future Expansion of the Magma Lineup
The GV60 Magma is only the beginning. Genesis has confirmed plans to expand the Magma lineup to additional models, including the G80 Magma and the GV80 Coupe Magma in the near future.
