Genesis has captured attention once again by releasing additional real-life images and video footage of the G90 Coupe, officially known as the X Gran Coupe Concept. Filmed in the Marche region of eastern Italy, the new content confirms that the X Gran Coupe is not just a static design mockup but a fully functioning vehicle equipped with a drivetrain, significantly boosting expectations for potential mass production.
A Long-Awaited Coupe in the Genesis Lineup
When the Genesis brand was launched in November 2015, the company announced a six-model lineup that included a “near-luxury sports coupe.” Although Genesis later showcased the Vision G Concept in 2016, based on the EQ900, the coupe never reached production. The new X Gran Coupe Concept continues that lineage, positioning itself as the brand’s most serious luxury coupe effort to date.
Luxury Design Inspired by the G90
The Genesis X Gran Coupe takes clear inspiration from the flagship G90 sedan while evolving into a bold two-door coupe. Its design closely mirrors the now-discontinued Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe in positioning, while targeting the niche segment still held by the Bentley Continental GT in the luxury grand touring coupe market.
Up front and at the rear, the X Gran Coupe carries forward the modern “Athletic Elegance” design philosophy of the G90 (RS4). Its side profile, however, embraces the flowing proportions of a true coupe, featuring a widened fender design and a low-slung roofline that enhances its presence. The roofline flows gracefully into the rear, securing ample headroom for rear passengers while creating a canopy-inspired silhouette.
Interior: A Fusion of Craftsmanship and Comfort
Opening the frameless doors reveals an interior derived from the G90, enhanced with exclusive coupe details. The cabin is finished in an elegant mix of green and tan premium leather, creating a refined yet welcoming atmosphere.
