Beijing Hyundai has officially announced that the ELEXIO “EO” will begin pre-sales and production on October 16, marking the latest entry in the pure electric compact SUV segment. Officials describe the new model as “coming soon,” signaling Hyundai’s renewed effort to strengthen its position in China’s fast-evolving EV market.

The ELEXIO “EO” is built on Hyundai’s E-GMP global pure electric platform and delivers a maximum CLTC-rated range of 722 kilometers. All variants are equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by Fudi, providing a balance of safety, stability, and cost efficiency.

ELEXIO “EO” Battery and Charging Specifications

The ELEXIO “EO” will be available in five range configurations:

  • 518 km
  • 540 km
  • 590 km
  • 692 km
  • 722 km

Battery capacity options include 64.3 kWh and 88.1 kWh, both using LFP chemistry. According to official data, fast charging from 30% to 80% takes only 27 minutes, while the long-range version supports 11 kW three-phase slow charging and V2L external power output, allowing the vehicle to power camping equipment and small appliances.

Dual Powertrain Options: Two-Wheel and Four-Wheel Drive

Buyers can choose between two- and four-wheel-drive variants.

  • The 2WD version is powered by a single 160 kW motor.
  • The 4WD version features dual motors—a 160 kW front motor and a 73 kW rear motor.

The rear motor serves mainly as an assistive drive unit rather than a performance booster, optimizing efficiency over raw acceleration. While the E-GMP platform supports 800V ultra-fast charging architecture, Hyundai has not yet confirmed whether the ELEXIO “EO” will utilize this system.

Dimensions and Exterior Design

The ELEXIO “EO” measures 4615 mm in length, 1875 mm in width, and 1676 mm in height, with a 2750 mm wheelbase, positioning it firmly within the compact SUV segment. Customers can choose between 18-inch and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Design-wise, the new SUV adopts a futuristic aesthetic. The front fascia features a through-type LED light bar and a quad-rectangle headlight structure with dynamic indicators. The side profile incorporates a sharply angled D-pillar, black cladding, hidden door handles, and a roof rack with a floating design. The charging port is located on the right front fender.

At the rear, the design mirrors the front with a dot-matrix LED taillight that spans the width of the vehicle. The “ELEXIO” badge sits prominently at the center of the tailgate, accompanied by a hidden rear wiper for a clean, aerodynamic look.

Seven exterior color options will be available: Twilight Purple, Pearl White, Pearl Black, Dawn White, Cyber Silver, Turquoise Blue, and Camouflage Gray.

Interior and Technology Features

Inside, the ELEXIO “EO” introduces Hyundai’s latest family design language, emphasizing simplicity and technology. The center console eliminates most physical buttons and features a 27-inch 4K dual-screen display with three HUD (Head-Up Display) modes—Normal, Minimalist, and Map.

Other highlights include:

  • Flat-bottomed steering wheel with a knob-type electronic shifter
  • Dual-zone wireless charging pads
  • Gesture recognition cameras for front and rear passengers
  • 29 practical storage spaces, including an expandable cup holder, hidden drawers, and underfloor trunk storage

The trunk offers 506 liters of space, while comfort and convenience features include a BOSE premium sound system, panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, double-layer acoustic glass, electric tailgate, and Comfort Stop brake mode.
