Hyundai Motor Company officially released the 2027 Kona in South Korea today. This latest iteration of the representative small SUV focuses on simultaneously boosting product competitiveness and economic efficiency through strategic trim restructuring and offering for the first time the full black trim.
Optimized Trims: The New “H-Pick” and Refined “Modern”
The standout feature of the 2027 Kona is the introduction of the H-Pick trim and the optimization of the entry-level Modern trim to lower the barrier to entry for budget-conscious drivers.
1. The Value-Packed H-Pick Trim
Hyundai has packed the H-Pick trim (Gasoline 1.6 Turbo) with high-demand features as standard equipment, including:
- 12.3-inch Navigation: Supports In-Car Payment and e hi-pass.
- Dual Full Auto Air Conditioning: Includes auto-defog, particulate matter sensor, air purification mode, and after-blow technology.
- Rain Sensors: For automated wiper control.
- 18-inch Alloy Wheels & Tires: Enhancing the vehicle’s stance and aesthetic.
2. The Economical Modern Trim
For the Modern trim, Hyundai has reduced the starting price by 490,000 KRW by simplifying standard features. Items previously standard, such as artificial leather seats and interior trim, have been moved to the “Comfort Choice” option package. This allows customers to pay only for the features they truly need.

2027 Kona Hybrid: Maximum Efficiency
The 2027 Kona Hybrid (HEV) follows a similar logic of rationalization. By moving the 12.3-inch navigation and ECM room mirror to the “Comfort Choice” option list, Hyundai has successfully lowered the base price of the Hybrid model by 590,000 KRW.
Unique Style and Digital Experience
Hyundai is also leaning into personalization and “lifestyle” tech with this update:
- Black Exterior Trim: A new exclusive “Black Wheel” has been added, emphasizing the Kona’s bold and sophisticated identity.
- Features on Demand (FoD): In a creative move, Hyundai is offering five new infotainment themes via subscription. These include popular characters like Pokémon (Pikachu & Ditto), Pororo, Tayo, and Zanmang Loopy.
