Kia has officially unveiled The Kia EV5, a next-generation family SUV built on the brand’s E-GMP platform, and announced that pre-orders begin on September 4, 2025 in Korea. Positioned as the fifth dedicated EV in Kia’s lineup after the EV6, EV9, EV3, and EV4, the EV5 redefines what families can expect from a fully electric SUV. Thanks to Woopa TV for the pictures.

“The EV5 will become a benchmark model in the era of EV popularization, offering practicality, safety, and premium convenience for families,” said Jeong Won-jeong, Head of Kia’s Domestic Business Division.

Spacious and Practical Interior for Families

The Kia EV5 interior blends boldness with harmony inspired by nature while maintaining Kia’s signature sporty touch. Measuring 4,610mm in length, 1,875mm in width, and 1,675mm in height with a 2,750mm wheelbase, it offers generous interior dimensions compared to typical compact EVs.

  • Relaxation Comfort Seats and Ergo Motion driver’s seat enhance front-row comfort.

Powered by an 81.4kWh NCM battery and a 160kW front-mounted motor, the Kia EV5 delivers:

  • Max torque: 295Nm
  • Range: Up to 460km per charge (based on Korean test cycle). In the WLTP cycle this turns to 604km.
  • Efficiency: 5.0km/kWh
  • Charging: 10% to 80% in approx. 30 minutes with a 350kW charger

Kia’s i-Pedal 3.0 system allows one-pedal driving, while Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0 automatically optimizes energy recovery based on road and traffic conditions.

The Kia EV5 price in Korea (after EV tax benefits, 3.5% individual consumption tax) is:

  • Air (Long Range): ₩48.55 million (~USD $35,600)
  • Earth (Long Range): ₩52.30 million (~USD $38,300)
  • GT-Line (Long Range): ₩53.40 million (~USD $39,000)

With government and local EV subsidies applied, buyers could purchase the base Air trim in the low ₩40 million range (~USD $30,000–32,000).
