The Genesis GV60 Magma, the first mass-produced model from Genesis’ new high-performance sub-brand “Magma,” will officially debut in Korea in late 2025. But a recent possible leak from a photoshoot in southern Spain thanks to our colleagues at @mr.grey_4k may have given us an early glimpse at the production version. Here’s everything we know so far — including design details, specs, production plans, and future expansion strategies for Genesis’ performance EV lineup.

Production Model Possibly Leaked in Spain

In late September 2025, a camouflage-free GV60 Magma was reportedly spotted during what appeared to be a commercial photoshoot on a mountain road in the south of Spain.

Spy photographers captured a bright orange prototype featuring production-ready body panels, distinctive aero parts, and signature Magma branding. This sighting strongly suggests that Genesis is in the final stages of promotional material preparation ahead of the official reveal.

Notable features seen on the spotted model include:

  • Pronounced aerodynamic rear wing closely matching the concept design
  • Aggressive front bumper with expanded air intakes and active cooling vents
  • Titanium-finished 21-inch aero wheels, likely production-spec
  • Magma-orange brake calipers and unique lower body accents

The location and styling cues indicate that Genesis may use Spain’s scenic mountain roads as the backdrop for the GV60 Magma’s global marketing campaign.

Genesis GV60 Magma: Launch Timeline

The GV60 Magma remains on track for its Korean domestic debut in late 2025. Production will begin at Hyundai’s Ulsan plant in Q3 2025, with sales starting in Q4 2025.

Genesis first introduced the GV60 Magma Concept at Genesis House New York in March 2024, confirming that it would be the first Magma-branded production vehicle.

Magma: A New High-Performance Identity

Developed under Hyundai Motor Company’s European Technology Center (HMETC) in Rüsselsheim, Germany, Magma is Genesis’ entry into the world of dynamic performance EVs.

The GV60 Magma is based on the standard Genesis GV60 platform but features significant upgrades in chassis engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and battery cooling — all designed to deliver high-performance driving dynamics.

Design & Aerodynamic Enhancements

The production GV60 Magma carries over the aggressive design DNA of the concept model, including:

  • Lower and wider stance for improved handling stability
  • Redesigned front air intake to cool batteries, motors, and brakes
  • Air curtain system for better aerodynamic efficiency
  • 21-inch titanium-colored flow-forming wheels with integrated aero discs
  • Aerodynamic rear loop and wing to generate additional downforce

The recent leak suggests that these features have transitioned almost unchanged from concept to production.

Interior: Crafted for Performance

Inside, the GV60 Magma blends luxury craftsmanship with motorsport-inspired details:

  • High-performance bucket seats in Nappa leather and suede
  • Magma orange and titanium gray double-diamond stitching
  • A driver-focused cockpit, optimized for track performance

Performance & Technology

Although official specifications are still under wraps, the GV60 Magma is expected to share its core powertrain with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, which delivers 478 kW (641 hp) and 770 Nm of torque.

Genesis promises a unique Magma driving feel, achieved through bespoke software calibration, suspension tuning, and possibly more aggressive torque vectoring.

Future Expansion of the Magma Lineup

The GV60 Magma is just the beginning. Genesis has already hinted that additional Magma models are in development, likely including performance versions of larger SUVs and sedans. This move positions Genesis as a serious challenger to premium EV performance brands like Audi Sport, BMW M, and Mercedes-AMG.

Conclusion

The GV60 Magma leak in Spain suggests Genesis is gearing up for an imminent global reveal. With its striking design, performance-focused engineering, and Magma branding, this model is shaping up to be one of the most exciting EV launches of 2025.
