Kia officially revealed the interior and exterior design of its enhanced electric family SUV, the Kia EV5, on Tuesday, July 8. As the fifth model in Kia’s dedicated EV lineup following the EV6, EV9, EV3, and EV4, the EV5 features an upgraded center console, steering wheel, headlights, and an NCM battery, compared to the Chinese version, which uses LFP batteries.
A Bold Step in Electric SUV Innovation
With demand for versatile electric vehicles at an all-time high, the Kia EV5 enters the market as the brand’s first semi-midsize electric SUV with an authentic SUV body type. Designed to meet both family needs and modern mobility expectations, Kia aims to lead the popularization of EVs with this groundbreaking model.
Future-Oriented Exterior with Dynamic Presence
The exterior of the EV5 showcases Kia’s signature design philosophy, “Opposites United”, blending rugged SUV aesthetics with futuristic EV cues.
- Front Design: A strong, boxy silhouette is highlighted by a bold front skid plate and wide bonnet. Vertical LED headlamps and Starmap Signature DRLs, inspired by constellations, create a high-tech and elegant look.
- Side Profile: With its squared fenders and tailgate-enhanced boxy design, the EV5 emphasizes ample trunk space and a stable stance. The geometric-patterned 19-inch diamond-cut wheels add a refined contrast of textures.
- Rear Styling: The vertical-horizontal layout of the rear combo lamps delivers a confident, high-end SUV appearance. A wide tailgate and robust bumper complete the premium rear-end finish.

A Comfortable, Practical, and Connected Interior
Inside, the Kia EV5 balances nature-inspired calm with modern tech to offer a comfortable and user-friendly cabin.
- Panoramic Display: A seamless display integrates a 12.3-inch digital cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 5-inch climate control screen, unified across a horizontal cockpit for a clean and wide cabin view.
- Enhanced Practicality: The first row features ample console storage, while the second row includes a sliding tray and three-zone climate control for optimal comfort for all passengers.
- Flat-Folding Second Row: A fully flat folding second-row seat connects to the trunk, ideal for camping or cargo flexibility. A luggage board provides organized and spacious storage in the rear.
Powertrain and Range Expectations
Although detailed technical specifications will be unveiled closer to launch in the second half of 2025, Kia has confirmed that the EV5 will be equipped with an 81.4kWh NCM battery, ensuring long-range capabilities suitable for both daily commuting and extended road trips.
