Kia Unveils PV5 Passenger and Cargo Models Ahead of 2025 Kia EV Day

Kia Corporation has officially revealed the exterior design of its highly anticipated PV5 Passenger and Cargo models. The unveiling comes just ahead of the brand’s second Kia EV Day, set to take place in Tarragona, Spain,later this month.

The Kia PV5, first previewed at CES 2024 as the Concept PV5, marks the beginning of Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) global business strategy. This mid-sized electric vehicle (EV) is designed to redefine space and mobility with modular flexibility and customization, catering to a wide range of customer needs.

Kia PV5: A New Era of Modular Electric Mobility

With the PV5, Kia is pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle design. The Passenger and Cargo models will be joined by additional configurations, including specialized conversion options, which Kia plans to unveil at the 2025 Kia EV Day.

The PV5’s exterior design moves beyond traditional light commercial vehicles, incorporating a fresh, modular aesthetic that emphasizes flexibility and innovation.

According to Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design, the new PBV embodies Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy:

“While the PV5 is offered in three different body styles to provide innovative solutions for a diverse range of customer needs, they all embody the same consistent design values… Each model confidently expresses a solid, bold, futuristic character and a highly capable attitude.”

The Passenger variant is designed with refined geometric lines that enhance its contemporary appeal.

Key Design Highlights:

• Expansive Window Area: A low beltline maximizes visibility, creating an open, airy feel.

• Striking Glass Surrounds: Black graphic elements contrast against the body color, adding a sleek, futuristic touch.

• SUV-Inspired Elements: Robust black wheel arch claddings and rocker panels tie the PV5 to Kia’s SUV lineup.

• Signature Lighting: The bold headlight design and sleek black accents give the PV5 a high-tech appearance.

• Functional Rear Design: A single lift-up tailgate door and a strong, protective bumper emphasize practicality and durability.

The chamfered D-pillar and horizontal stance enhance the PV5’s modern, confident aesthetic, ensuring it looks as good as it performs.

Kia PV5 Cargo Design: Optimized for Utility

The Kia PV5 Cargo shares the same geometric design as the Passenger model but with a more functional, space-efficient structure.

• Twin Side-Opening Tailgate Doors: Improves practicality for loading and unloading.

Kia’s 2025 Kia EV Day will take place on February 24, 2025, in Tarragona, Spain. During the event, Kia will unveil:
