The Hyundai Elantra N has long been a favorite among enthusiasts seeking a thrilling yet practical performance sedan. Now, Hyundai is preparing to take it to the next level with the first-ever hybrid-powered N model, which is expected to debut following the eighth-generation Elantra in September 2026. Although the new N model hasn’t been spotted yet, we can share a fairly accurate rendering of what to expect.

Rendering Confirms Bold New Styling

A few days ago, the first rendering of the next-generation Elantra—known as the Hyundai Avante in South Korea—surfaced, boasting 90% accuracy. That rendering, created by our colleagues at Gotcha Cars, has now been validated by fresh spy photos from ShortsCar, confirming Hyundai’s futuristic new design direction.

Key design highlights include:

  • Front: Sculpted grille area with angular DRLs and a horizontal LED strip, inspired by the Hyundai N Vision 74 concept.
  • Side: A coupe-like silhouette with muscular rear haunches and sharp shoulder lines for a low, wide stance.
  • Rear: Aggressive fender flares paired with slim, sharp tail lights that emphasize its sporty character.

This marks a significant evolution for the Elantra, giving it a more dynamic, almost muscle-car-like presence while retaining its sedan practicality.

First-Ever Hybrid Hyundai N: 2.5L Turbo + Electric Power

While Hyundai has delayed parts of its EV rollout, the brand is keeping enthusiasts engaged by combining traditional performance engineering with hybrid technology. The next-generation Elantra N is expected to feature a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with hybrid assistance, marking the first hybrid in the N performance lineup.

This new setup should deliver:

  • Higher power output than the current 2.0T Elantra N
  • Improved efficiency thanks to electric assistance
  • Instant torque response for sharper acceleration

With this configuration, Hyundai aims to bridge the gap between ICE performance and future electric N cars, ensuring fans don’t have to choose between thrill and sustainability. This strategy allows Hyundai to cater to a wide spectrum of drivers while EVs like the IONIQ 6 N and IONIQ 5 N carry the torch for full electrification.

Global Debut in 2026

The all-new Hyundai Elantra will make its official debut in 2026, with the Elantra N hybrid set to headline the range as the most advanced performance sedan in the lineup. Between its coupe-inspired styling, cutting-edge hybrid powertrain, and motorsport-inspired handling, the next-gen Elantra N is shaping up to be one of the most exciting compact sports sedans of the decade.
