Hyundai Planning To Launch Its New Compact SUV In 2015

Directly from India we receive that report about Hyundai’s new compact SUV according to Hyundai India Managing Directo B.S. Seo. The car are being designed at Namyang R&D Centre in South Korea.

Car platform tend to be the biggest cost in the development of a car and include the under-body and suspension. It also includes the chassis of the car, engines and powertrain options. The designs are supported by the centre based in Hyderabad, which will provide inputs on Indian customer preferences. This SUV will be probably based on the Curb Concept (read more here) to take on Renault’s hot-selling compact SUV, the Duster, as well as Ford’s impending launch of the EcoSport.


The engine capacity for its compact SUV has not yet been decided but Hyundai has a range of engine options in diesel and petrol ranging from 1.4 litre “Gamma” petrol to 1.6 litre CRDi diesel to choose from. It’s the platform that tends to eat up the biggest cost during development, with the under-body and suspension included. It also includes the chassis, engines, and powertrain options. 

Hyundai’s research and development center in Hyderabad, India will support the designs and will give their input on what the Indian customer expects and prefers in a vehicle. There is no decision yet on what the engine capacity will be for the SUV, but Hyundai has plenty of diesel and petrol engines to choose from.
