Hyundai Will Discontinued 2.0 Turbo Engine on the MY2015 Genesis Coupe

If you are a KDM lover, I’m sure most of you guys are waiting for the new generation of the Genesis Coupe. Hyundai already has the Genesis sedan up for sale so its only matter of time until we start seen more of the coupe.

Unfortunately our spyshot expert haven’t hunt one just yet, seems like Hyundai is hiding it very well but today we have receive some tips from an anonymous follower.

On the following picture, we see that apparently Hyundai Motor America is planning to discontinue the 2.0 Turbo engine for the 2015MY Genesis Coupe removing their Base, R-spec and Premium range models.

Also they are discontinuing the 3.8 V6 GDi Grand Touring trim but at the same time adding a new trim level for the base model with 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmission, also adding LED daytime running lights on the R-spec and brown leather interior on the Ultimate trim as an option.

So what does that mean? Well for one this mean they are getting ready for production on the new Genesis Coupe and more info will start arriving in the near future, and that’s good news for all of us.

This could also mean they are trying to save all those 2.0 TCi engines for the new generation or maybe they are planning to discontinue the 2.0 engine. Will the 3.8 V6 engine replace the 2.0 Turbo engine? Are we finally going to see the 5.0 V8 GDi on the Genesis Coupe?

Food for thoughts guys, let us know what you think and expect from this new generation of the Genesis Coupe.

Thank you anonymous!

Hopefully, they will release a new redesign of this nameplate soon. A redesign strictly based on HND-9 Venace Concept vehicle that debuted in Seoul and Geneva. Many people dislike the current design of this vehicle and a new redesign would elevate consumer appeal and elevate sales figures. Most importantly, if it is equipped with all-wheel drive and a Tau 5.0 V8 it would be very competitive in the automotive segment.

The switch to V6 only just sounds to me like the 2.0T will move to the Veloster as the Gen Coupe goes upmarket.
