Hyundai Motor America plans to launch its new compact SUV, the 2016 Tucson in the North American market during July.

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]A Hyundai official said, “We started producing the new 2016 Tucson for the North American market last month. It will be available there from late this month at the earliest. The full-scale sales could begin from next month.”

Hyundai Motor aims to sell 90,000 units of the new 2016 Tucson in the United States and Canada a year. The sales of the Tucson remained sluggish at 47,000 units last year in the U.S. Hyundai Motor hopes to double its Tucson sales there by adding a new model.

The sales of the 2016 Tucson SUV grew 95 percent in South Korea thanks to the release of the new generation model.

Hyundai Motor Group announced two weeks ago that it would boost the output of its All-New Tucson SUV by adding production at a South Korean plants that currently makes sedans in order to meet demand from local and overseas markets including the United States.

Hyundai Motor is also carefully reviewing the idea of entering the U.S. pickup truck market. Hyundai showed off its pickup truck concept car Santa Cruz at the Detroit Motor Show early this year. However, it is not certain whether the Korean car maker will actually produce and sell the model.
