Autobhan reported the 2020 launch plan for the Korean Automakers and we’ll be compiling all the information we have for these models so far and by the looks of it, plenty of Electric vehicles.

Hyundai Motor Group’s electrified lineup, which comprised 24 models in 2019, will be expanded to 44 models by 2025, including 13 hybrids, six plug-in hybrids, 23 battery electric vehicles and two fuel-cell electric vehicles. For 2020 we are noticing that revamp on their line up with many SUVs taking the lead.
Lately we been noticing delays from the brands, specially on Genesis Motors, for various reason so we’ll keep an eye with those releases according to this launch plan. Now remember we don’t know the exact month with this launch plan but if we know roughly the date we will add it.
Hyundai Motors
Hyundai Motors has at least 5 vehicles that could be release in this new decade, lets analyze a litte bit those models.
Elantra/Avante CN7
[ads id=”8″]
The first vehicle we’ll be the Elantra/Avante CN7. We know this vehicle could be unveiled some time in the month of February. We are expecting a new design to follow its big brother, the Hyundai Sonata.
The Elantra/Avante follow-up extends from 4620mm in the current Avante to 4655mm like Kia’s Forte. In addition to the 1.6 smartstream gasoline, a new 1.2 Turbo GDi (check the image below) and 1.6 CVVD Turbo GDi engines will be available. In particular, the Avante will add a hybrid model and a high-performance N-line.
Santa Fe Facelift TM HEV-PHEV
Santa Fe is a very important vehicle because it accounts for more than half of Hyundai SUV sales. Therefore, as the flagship SUV, it will be released with various powertrains such as internal combustion engine, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. The larger wheelbase than before could make the body size similar to a Palisade.
Adding a plug-in hybrid to the Santa Fe, along with a common hybrid, is a good news for prospective consumers. A hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor with a gamma 1.6 T-GDI gasoline engine will remain, while retaining existing diesel and gasoline engines.
It is also equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that significantly reduces fuel consumption by applying a large-capacity battery, and the Santa Fe hybrid is a combination of gasoline engine and electric motor.

Tucson NX4
We are expecting the new Hyundai Tucson NX4 to be release on the first half of this year and is expected to bring eco-friendly powertrains along its new generation.
The next generation Tucson is set to have the all-new Theta3 2.5-liter engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai plans to use the Theta3 N/A & Turbo 2.5-liter engine as its base engine in the US market. The European market will most likely also get an updated version of the 1.6 liter GDI as well as the 1.6 liter T-GDI and also a possible diesel version. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions will be available.
The Tucson hybrid models should see 48v mild hybrid system to the 2.0 diesel engine equipped with the latest 8-speed AT and the AWD four-wheel drive system to stand out from its class.
We are expecting a larger Tucson on this new generation and we might see a seven-seater Tucson. With more SUV options now the Tucson and Sportage seems to have lost its position but with this new revamp on style we are hoping it relocates itself again.
Kia Motors
Kia Motors has a much busier schedule with new models to be release in this 2020, some you might see in the states and more than likely one will not make it here. Let’s take a look.
Bongo III EV
[ads id=”8″]
We don’t usually talk about this model because its very specific to the Domestic Market, this is Kia’s commercial truck receiving its EV version. Since its on the launch plan, well we are just adding it. The only thing we are more curious to see is Kia’s sister model of the Hyundai Santa Cruz, which should be release along with it but so far we haven’t seen it on the road.
Sorento MQ4
As much as we want to add a lot of information here about the Kia Sorento, this should be about the same as the Hyundai Santa Fe. As is with most of their models most specifications should be about the same. Diesel and Gasoline engines will add batteries to those hybrid models to follow where the market is going now.
We could be seeing the new Sorento sometime in February. The new design should bring a new look on the SUV that will follow the bigger brother, The Telluride. Also just like the Telluride, we might see an addition of seats inside the Sorento to become a six-seater and even a seven-seater model. It’s reported the seats configuration could be similar to the Mojave.
We have already spotted lots of spy shots from the outside and inside, be sure to check them out.
Sportage NQ4
Initially, Kia Motors expected to launch long body versions of the new Sportage in major markets including South Korea and Europe. This is attributable to Kia’s recent efforts to secure a full range of SUV products, diversification of products due to the weakening of the semi-mid-size SUV market, and expectations of the revival of the first-generation Sportage Grand (Longbody) after 20 years.
You can also expect hybrid engines just like its sister model, Hyundai Tucson.
We could expect this model to be release sometime in December this year but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. We dont have any spyshots of the Sportage just yet but it shouldn’t take too long for these models to start rooming around towns for their test driving.
Sedona/Carnival KA4
We are expecting the family car to receive a full change in it’s design, we hardly see this model in the road but we are presuming this model could be shown by July 2020 though there is no confirmation just yet.
Mini-vans are not what they were before, a very large an boring block with 4 wheels. These vehicle are becoming more stylish and the new Sedona will not be the exception, we are told it’ll draw your attention. Due to its design you could maybe mistake it by a SUV.
Following this report, we are not expecting a hybrid version of this model.
Genesis Motors
Genesis Motors had a very rough end of 2019 and beginning of 2020 with the delays of their first SUV and other models but now that the brand finally on schedule and we could expect new models to start showing up and expand their vehicle line up.
GV80
[ads id=”8″]
As many of you are already aware few days ago Genesis Motors has finally release their first SUV. This was unveiled in South Korea but we can expect this vehicle to also reach North America soon. If you would like to know more about this model, check the multiple articles we uploaded.
G80
This model was also delayed and its expected to launch sometime this year, This G80 will have a full-change model. As some of you might know came from the Hyundai brand as Genesis Sedan and when Genesis Motors became the Luxury brand it was rebranded as G80.
We are told we could see the unveil of this model at Geneva Motorshow but it hasnt been confirmed just yet, stay tuned for more.
The G80 should arrive with 2 new engines, the 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder Theta 3 turbo engine and the 3.5-liter V6 new Lambda 3 turbo engine. Rumors were told these 2 engines could have been the culprit of the delays Genesis Motors were facing.
Genesis has a big task to showcase with this sedan, were most sedan are currently facing out, with their new design, engine and fuel efficiency we are hoping this will be enough competition for the other luxury brands. The G80 was spied during their test at Nurburgring to tuning its performance side we hope its good enough for its new customers.
GV70
This model was spied last year sometime in November with heavy camouflage at South Korea. The GV70 should have similar design as the GV80 model just released but shrink in size. Just as reference this should be between the Santa Fe and Tucson.
As you might have figured out, the GV70 should share platform with the G70 both been what Genesis Motors call “Near Luxury” line-up.
We havent seen any interior pictures of the GV70 but if the G70 facelift won’t have the rotary shifter we might see the same shifter.
What about the powertrain? We could see the 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder Theta 3 turbo engine as well as the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Turbo engine
We tried to add the information we currently have and also reduce it to what’s more important to compact the article. When more information arrive, each model should have its own article.
Stay tuned for more details!
