Revealed for the first time in September 2020, the South Korean carmaker is already preparing the Hyundai Tucson facelift, but despite the recently facelifts made by Hyundai and characterized by a full makeover, this time Hyundai will be more conservative and will apply slight changes and make it look like a Santa Cruz, according to the latest leak.
Captured near Hyundai-Kia R&D Center, the updated Hyundai Tucson was spotted heavily camouflaged so it is difficult to see differences. We cannot appreciate any bigger differences that affects any part of the design as this is probably in an early stage of development.
Talking about the powertrain, we don’t expect many changes compared to the currently line-up despite a small fine-tuning to make the engines more efficient and probably adding a higher density battery pack to increase the electric range in the PHEV variant. Another change confirmed is the discontinuation of DCT transmission in place of the 8-speed AT.
As for the inside, looking at the recently launched Kona or Santa Fe, you can bet Hyundai will apply the same third screen curved glass system as well as the latest safety and tech features including on demand features. It is difficult to know when Hyundai plans to release this facelift but we don’t expect it before Summer 2024 in South Korea, with European and US-spec models arriving by end of 2024.
Our colleagues at NYMammoth shared with us a leaked image of the main headlight of the updated while applied in a rendering image to show how it will look, what do you think?
