The given codename for this CUV model is “QX” and despite was expected to be called Leonis, finally looks like it will be finally called “Styx” as the application for the trademark of Leonis were rejected (pictured below). “Styx” in Greek mythology is a deity and a river that forms the boundary between Earth and the Underworld, often called “Hades”, which is also the name of its ruler.
The Styx has been seen spied several times in South Korea and overseas. The front design has a separate head lamp that is commonly applied to Hyundai’s SUV lineup. A projection-type lamp is installed inside the headlamp. Radiator grille with a grid-type bars made a bigger image and emphasizes image of a SUV.
These are some of the safety features this new model could be equipped like Auto Emergency Brake, Blind Spot Detection, Vehicle Stability Management, Electronic Stability Control, Hill-start Assistance Control and of course the side and Curtain Airbags.

On the interior we will have an 8″ Display and the Smart Key with Button to start. On the exterior you’ll have the Sunroof, the option of 15″ Alloy wheels or 17″ Alloys wheels as well as the Projection headlights. To keep the trend coming there will be an option for the Two-Tone Roof.
Under the hood we’ll see the 1.6L Naturally Aspirated engine and it’ll married to the starting to be rare in America Continuous Variable Transmission. HMA has mentioned before they are planning to shift to DCT since it performs well and has better advantages. Also a 1.0 Turbo and 1.4 Turbo are rumoured to be included, both engines from the “Kappa” family works well with the 7-speed DCT.
This small SUV will arrive to the US-market during 2019 (will debut between the 1st quarter or early 2nd quarter) and will complete Hyundai’s line-up of SUV. To be positioned under the KONA, this is not confirmed for the US-market, but at least in South Korea the Styx will replace the Accent, like Kia made with the Stonic and the Pride (Rio).
