As we can see the boxy design reminds a lot of the concept even it its toned down slightly and the rear suicide doors have been replaced for more conventional doors.
The 3 row SUV will be a big car, almost 5 m long, just over 2 m wide and 1,80 m high but it will still be able to make 0-100 km/h in ca 5 seconds according to Kia. And even with those impressive performance figures the range is expected to be around 540 km. If those performance figures only apply to the GT version is not known as for now. GT version ? Yes, as already confirmed by Kia every Kia EV series model will have an GT version.
And with Kia’s latest platform, the high-speed charging is also in focus. The charging time for 100 km range will just be 6 minutes.
For the first time in Kia models, over-the-air software update (OTA) for controllers and Feature on Demand (FoD) services that allow customers to selectively purchase software functions will also be applied to implement electric vehicles as smart devices.
The Kia EV9 will also feature AutoMode, the company’s upcoming autonomous driving system. This will mark the start of the second phase in Kia’s autonomous technology roadmap. OTA update, NSCC (Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control) with HD maps, Highway Driving Pilot (HDP), and Auto Lane Change will be the highlights of AutoMode in the Kia EV9. In 2025 or later, AutoMode will offer full autonomous driving.
The Kia EV9 SUV, called MV internally, will be revealed in 2023 and is expected to get a $ 50.000 price tag in the US.
