Genesis has dramatically shifted its strategic course, officially launching its high-performance sub-brand, Magma, with the global debut of the Genesis GV60 Magma. The unveiling, held at the prestigious Circuit Paul Ricard, signals the luxury marque’s commitment to the “Luxury High Performance” concept, aiming to redefine the high-end electric vehicle (EV) segment for the next decade.

Redefining High Performance: The Magma Philosophy

The introduction of Magma is Genesis’s definitive statement that luxury and uncompromising performance are not mutually exclusive. Unlike traditional rivals who focus on raw speed, Genesis emphasizes “Athletic Elegance”—a holistic vision that prioritizes precise handling, finely tuned dynamics, and the harmonious balance between driver and machine.

“Magma unveils a new facet of Genesis, one that elevates the brand toward true luxury through performance. It shows how emotion and precision can coexist in perfect harmony,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis.

This strategy is built on the brand’s rapid rise, having reached one million global sales faster than any other luxury automaker in history. The Magma line is poised to challenge established German rivals and high-performance EVs from brands like Porsche and Tesla, injecting Korean innovation and luxury refinement into the top tier of electric motoring.

Genesis highlights “driving control perfection” as the core development goal. The GV60 Magma features an optimized suspension system with Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS), and enhanced braking, ensuring stability and confident control during spirited driving.

Design: Functional Aerodynamics

The design language of the GV60 Magma embodies “subtle, untapped power,” moving away from overly aggressive styling.

  • Stance: The vehicle features a lower, wider silhouette, with the overall height reduced by 20 mm.
  • Wheels & Tires: Wide wheel arches house exclusive 21-inch Magma forged wheels wrapped in 275 mm performance tires.
  • Aero Functionality: The front bumper incorporates a three-hole air intake structure for superior cooling, complemented by a functional wing-type rear spoiler to generate essential downforce.

Interior and Immersive Technology

The Magma experience extends deep into the cockpit, creating a high-performance environment without sacrificing luxury.

  • Premium Materials: The interior uses premium suede-like Chamude material, accentuated by the Magma line’s signature orange and gray stitching.
  • Magma Mode Interface: Activating the “Magma Mode” transforms the digital instrument cluster to prominently display performance metrics like G-force, temperature, and speed, keeping the driver focused.
  • Virtual Gear Shift (VGS): This unique feature mimics the feel and sound of a traditional high-performance internal combustion engine’s gear changes, offering an emotionally engaging driving experience often missing in electric cars.
