While yesterday we shared the latest spy shots of the first model of IONIQ sub-brand for electric vehicles, the IONIQ 5, today Hyundai released a teaser video and despite we cannot see any piece of the car, we can confirm the release date, set for early 2021.

The teaser video below provides the first details of the Ioniq 5, which is set for an early 2021 reveal. The IONIQ 5 will premiere recently announced Electric Global Modular Platform or E-GMP.

Hyundai take advantage of the teaser to share a few hints of the new electric vehicle. They used a few phrases to preview what the Ioniq 5 will be capable of, like “Extra Power for Life” that calls attention to IONIQ 5’s vehicle-to-load (V2L) bi-directional charging capability, “Extra Time for You” highlights its fast-charging capability or “Extraordinary Experiences,” that hints at the BEV’s soon-to-be-announced array of features.

The video’s release follows Hyundai’s announcement, made in August 2020, that it will launch a dedicated BEV lineup brand IONIQ in its bid to become one of the world’s top EV manufacturers. Under IONIQ, Hyundai will launch a range of EVs, including IONIQ 5, a midsize CUV in early 2021; IONIQ 6, a sedan; followed by IONIQ 7, a large SUV.
