The highlight of Kia’s presence at IAA Mobility 2025 is the European public debut of the Kia EV5, a fully electric C-SUV designed for modern families and people with active lifestyles. Built on the E-GMP platform, the EV5 combines bold SUV styling with a versatile interior featuring second-row full-flat folding seats, rear seat-back tables, and a panoramic wide display that creates a lounge-like atmosphere.
A Strategic Model in Kia’s Electrification Plan
The Kia EV5 is a key pillar in Kia’s global ‘Plan S’ electrification strategy, strengthening the brand’s position in sustainable mobility.
“The EV5 is a cornerstone of Kia’s European growth strategy,” says Sjoerd Knipping, COO of Kia Europe. “We are entering Europe’s most competitive EV segment with a model that blends iconic design, everyday practicality, and electric innovation tailored to European lifestyles.”
Rugged Yet Refined Design for European Tastes
The Kia EV5 follows the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, featuring a boxy silhouette, strong D-pillar, and signature ‘Star Map’ LED lighting. Buyers can choose from:
- 18-inch or 19-inch wheels (base model)
- 19-inch wheels for the EV5 GT-Line
- 20-inch wheels for the upcoming EV5 GT

Inside, the EV5 offers a lounge-like cabin with fully flat-folding rear seats, creating up to two metres of loading space. Practical touches like a drawer-style centre console and versatile storage solutions make it equally suited to city commutes and weekend adventures.
Sustainability plays a central role, with recycled PET fabrics, bio foam seats, and BTX-free paints throughout the interior.
Electric Performance Built for Europe
Equipped with a long-range 81.4 kWh battery, the Kia EV5 delivers up to 329 miles (530 km) WLTP on a single charge. All versions support fast charging (10–80% in ~30 minutes) and feature i-Pedal 3.0 for one-pedal driving, plus Smart Regeneration System Plus for intelligent energy recovery.
Cold-weather performance is enhanced by a next-generation battery heating and cooling system, preserving range from Nordic winters to Mediterranean summers.
The EV5 also features bi-directional charging with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, providing up to 3.6 kW to power devices, and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) readiness for future energy-sharing networks.
